Thanks, Fred.
I feel lame not realizing the Dodgers had it last year. I like this “newer” rule, as opposed to the old one. It has more merit or reward if you will, for those final two teams based on the regular season(becoming more meaningful).

If Atlanta can’t win it, go ‘Nats! I’m not a Dodger, Phil-lie or Cubbie.

Personally, can’t see any type of financial fit for the Braves(more suited to the immediate needs of the spending Phillies):
Zachary D. Rymer writes: "This could be translated to mean the D-backs aren't opposed to unloading ace right-hander Zack Greinke. They may be 46-45 and he may have a 2.73 ERA, but a chance to get out of his $206.5 million contract and perhaps get some talent back might be a chance to jump on. Greinke's 15-team no-trade list figures to complicate matters but not if the Atlanta Braves get involved. The Braves are out to win a second straight NL East title, as well as their first World Series since 1995. They're conveniently absent from Greinke's list, and they also have more than enough prospects in their No. 2 farm system to potentially convince the D-backs to eat a sizable chunk of his remaining contract. Of course, any deal the Braves make for Greinke would still result in them being out a bunch of money and prospects, all for the sake of a guy who'll turn 36 in October. But if Greinke were to remain an ageless ace, their rotation would be in good hands through the rest of 2019 and into 2021."

I could see the Yankees and Astros being interested in Grienke also:rolleyes:

Sometime yesterday evening, a rumor trickled up from the depths of Twitter and infiltrated its way onto Atlanta Braves’ fans Twitter accounts.
Marcus Stroman was on the verge of being traded to the Atlanta Braves for Ender Inciarte, Drew Waters, and Ian Anderson. Two of our most ‘untouchable’ prospects were potentially on the way to Canada.

Whether it’s valid or not, closer Ken Giles is having an “on fire” season. Both of these pitchers are basically locked up through 2020 due to arbitration. Stroman has had a few injuries in the past. Personally, I don’t want to give up those two prospects, even with Giles included. Pache, Wilson, Wright, would be untouchable to me.

Would you give up any of these guys or Allard or insert big time prospect for any of these front line starters, during the next three weeks? or should we deal the Gohara types for a Gausman type, like last July of 2018? or do you prefer to stand pat(not me)?

I don’t mind dangling Allard(don’t think A.A. would deal Touki, Newk. or Bryse), Inciarte, Duvall, Folty or Tehran. Probably selling low on those players, but we should be able to get a veteran starter and closer off a team out of the race. Texas is 48-42, and might not deal until they see where they are right up to July 31?

I wouldn't mind the Braves doing some wheeling and dealing of those players for a stopper who could close for the Braves for a few seasons:cigar:

I would not give up Anderson. I think he is going to be special. I like Waters a lot too, but he is somewhat expendable with Pache in the system. I personally like Waters more than Pache.

are Gohara and O'day out for the season?
Mike is right, O’Day or No Way(as I call him)was moved to the 60 day list on June 7.
Gohara has been on the Gwinnett 7 day IL all season. No appearances. He had a bad left shoulder, then left ankle sprain. He has value to a non-contender to take a chance on.

Finally back to baseball tomorrow vs. Padres ... looking forward to it, been a long week without it !
Amen, Brother. The ASG didn’t quench my thirst. And we were playing well, too.
Many a year going back to when they moved here, I wished the season was over by now. Although, I learned to appreciate the good teams that came through town.

I left out Waters in my above post. Sort of because I did say I wouldn’t trade either of the two prospects. Naturally that doesn’t include Ender Inciarte, as a prospect. I’ll surrender any regular not on the current roster. Also, Tehran or Tomlin or Blevins can be had.

Truly believe Waters and Pache will be MLB stars, not just pieces. Christian could play CF right now defensively if we needed him. I’d hate to trade 2/3 of our future OF. With Acuna, we could have 3 excellent CF’s. Ronald could move to left by then and Drew to RF.

Guess it would be like "wishing in one hand and shi^^ing in the other" to expect anything from those two.

I can't believe Darren O'Day's base salary is 9 million dollars:wideyed::rolleyes:
Yeah, remember my post before Visky got traded in the Swarzak deal? I ran the numbers on the two relief pitchers taking up most of the bullpen budget. Like 14m. out of something like 17m.(and they probably won’t throw any more pitches this year).

We could have cut Duvall in March and saved like another 3m.

Gwinnett AAA:
  • Bryse Wilson, SP: 2.2 IN, 8 H, 9 ER, 3 BB, 2 K
This was one of Bryse Wilson’s worst starts of his career. For a guy that throws strikes, you’ll have a bad game here or there, but he struggled with fastball command tonight leaving a lot of pitches right over the heart of the plate. It was a real shame, because he was throwing one of the better change-ups I’ve seen from him.

We need a dependable 5th starter, right now! Soroka and Fried cannot be expected to go on 3 or 4 days rest.
