This MLB season might wind up like 1994 with a strike mid season and they just cancel the season

Strike is inevitable. There is already one planned for 2021 because the owners and players aren’t agreeing in their CBA talks. The system is broken. The problem with the current system is that a team has control over a player for 6-7 years depending on when they are called up.. Yes, they do arbitration hearings after 3 years and can get more $$ but a panel decides how much a player is worth.. not the players themselves. Typically after arbitration the player gets less than they’re worth on the market.

This is why you are seeing guys want 10 year $300M deals because they want the big league contract they were never offered before the age of 26.

The problem with this is that owners have the sabermetrics to prove that players reach their peak at 26-27 years old and 99% of players performance declines when they are able to sign their big contract.. so owners don’t want to sign a long term Free Agent deal. Not fair to the owners or players.

Agree with you guys on the White Sox trying to be competitive.

Wouldn’t surprise me wherever Boras went, oops I mean Harper.
Chisox, Phils, Nats.

Also, in agreement on a strike. It’s been awhile. The Fans probably lose more, especially the shut-in’s. Most ownerships are in the top 3 %. The players wind up with more $ in the end. The Braves got a little asterisk for the 1995 W.S. Champ.

I got a guy claiming he knows a guy who's told him Boras and the Braves have 'engaged'. Not that anything is imminent but that, per his guy, there's something there.

Is my guy's guy full of it? He's given some decent intel in the past but this one seems far-fetched.

A strike if it's going to happen, this season, will severely hurt MLB ratings for the next decade.

Boras is calling all the G.M’s with money left to spend. My source thinks the Braves are done with the 18m. and above players per year. Donaldson got the budget. They are content to wait on the trade deadline. Of course, Kimbrel and Keuchel will be gone. A.A. is more favorable to a trade or a one-year bargain basement F.A. to absorb innings.

Yea, I can see that happening too. I feel like we were lead on by the front office at the beginning of the off season. They were very misleading and made it seem like 2019 was going to be the year we were going to go for it, and open up the wallet. Great way to sell season tickets with that kind of talk. Also a great way to make lifelong fans disappointed.

It's also a good way to make sure Suntrust Park is empty in 2020,2021 and beyond

Update on Harper: Phillies now the front runner with more years on the table than the Nats.(who don’t want to give a deal like Machado got). White Sox out and turning their attention to Marwin Gonzalez, et al. Padres are not expected to give out another 300 m.

Look for Borass to drag this out into Spring Training. He should have been an auctioneer, although not as much money in that field, compared to hi$ agency.

It looks like the Braves will be 3rd in the NL East this season
