If the wind isn’t howling anything. It’s about wind, not about the temperature. We have temp swings 100+ degrees every calendar year in MSP. Minneapolis is not the Canadian border. Totally different animal in northern MN. Bundle the kids up and tell them to get their butts outside and play in the snow. FWIW, the worst winter weather is temps in the 30’s-40’s. Too cold to be comfortable, too warm for snow.

Hell we don't wear the same shade of gold just get a few to wear blue and some white we will both look good. As for the M it's ok teams like UNC and uga can't read.

A big complaint in Gopherland is that our team rarely wears its actual colors any more. Coach says alumni be dammed the kids like the alternative ones. BTW...does Tech have an Anthracite uni?

Well, the way the Gophers handled the Badgers , we might have our hands full - from a Tech and Badger fan.
Yes, I am seeing WAY too much "we shouldn't be in this piddly bowl" talk from my fellow Jacket fans. We could lose this game and those bemoaning this bowl will look REALLY silly. I honestly think this is what GT deserved. We had one or two good games this year, but we lost to mediocre teams multiple times (USF, Pitt, Duke) and got man-handled in a way I haven't seen in 20 years against UGA.

I was hoping we'd simply say "no thanks" to any bowl invite, honestly. After several years of that gosh-awful blue turf bowl in sub 0 degress Idaho and other non-descript bowls, I am embarrassed as a GT fan that we even accept those invitations. We don't make money on them as best I can tell and not a single person outside of GT realm even know these bowls exist or are being played. It does nothing for recruiting in a positive way and if I am an HC competing for same recruits as GT, I'd remind those recruits of the crappy, what-bowl-is-that-again, that GT plays in 3 of every 4 years. Sorry, I am salty mostly due to that stupid consecutive bowl record we had that was beyond silly. We rarely played in an important bowl and some of my fellow GT fans touted it...this got lots of laughs from serious football programs, as it should have.

Curious. From where do most of your players come?
Been varying a bit with the rotating door of HC's lately, but outside of MN we have been recruiting mostly Florida, Georgia, Ohio, and now Texas.

So here is my question to you Mr. Gopher, it looks like you all are not very good against the run. Not a good recipe playing us. Your thoughts
I thought I had replied to this earlier, but I don't see it. We fired our DC late in the season. The run-D was supposed to be a strength, but it has really only come on as of late.

We held Ohio State to 92 yards rushing in Columbus, N'western to 95, Purdue to 88, and Wisconsin's RB Taylor (who was averaging 170/ypg) to 120 yards in Madison. That's a great way to end the season, but I have no idea how we will fair versus a triple option.

Gophers have some great wrestlers too don’t they?
Not sure how they fared the passed year or two, but the Wrestling team is generally Top 10 or even Top 5 in the country.

Open air hockey rinks are in all the small towns on north Dakota and northern minn. I noticed these when we were doing aerial route recon. Being long time houston texas resident I thought they were local rodeo rinks. I found out that u guys just keep adding water as needed.

I just looked at your roster! U guys are getting a lot of Georgia talent!
Yeah, outdoor rinks are a dime a dozen around here. I don't think there's more than a rodeo or two in the entire state though, and it's probably just passing through?

Georgia has been heavily targeted as of late. I believe we have around a dozen players from GA and another verbal on the way.

The high temp in Minneapolis is 15 on Thursday this week... What does one do in 15 degree weather for 4 months?
Drink beer, play hockey (I used to play outdoors without a coat in 5 degree weather), or preferably both.

Agree with the first part but we should be thankful for any bowl that invites us. I remember that one year ND and Holtz were too "good" to go to a mid-tier bowl and declined. This is for the players and seniors to have one more game. Also we should go in with the right attitude. Remember USC in Sun Bowl and the attitude they came in with? We sure showed them didn't we?

Minnesota update:

Top OL Greene and top LB Cashman (with Big Ten and National recognition) are declaring early and not participating in the Toilet Bowl.

On top of that, there's an on-going "disciplinary" action against 6-8 players for currently undisclosed reasons that are at least holding them out of practices, and possibly the Bowl game.

Depending on the latter, I think that will shift Tech up to an additional 3-7 points favor.

Return question: How did three conference rivals you beat, all with worse records, get placed in a higher Bowl game? No respect. I feel a "statement" game coming on, and my boys might get embarrassed. Luckily, no one will be watching.

I’m not above taking whatever help we can get to garner a W. I still think it will be a close game. We have a lot of distractions with the regime change ongoing.

This is a sore spot =(

Basically though, we are perceived to not be a traveling team.

Other issues, Quick Lane Bowl takes teams from Carolinas and Virginia *way* more than other areas. Military Bowl would honestly have been stupid to not take VT with almost their entire alumni base there. It is our fault for not being 8-4 and forcing them to have to take us. Miami to Pinstripe is stupid because Miami is a *brand* (vomits under desk). They are going to get embarrassed while playing in the cold and I am going to enjoy every second of the 60 minutes of it.

Moral of the story though, ACC has a rule where you cannot be jumped if you have two or more wins than other schools. Thus NCState and Syracuse were guaranteed a tier 1 and Pitt had to be because they played in ACC championship. All the other teams wasa 7-5 or 6-6 giving the bowls freedom to choose whomever they wanted. Unlike the SEC, the ACC does not have the final say in where the teams go.

@EE95_curse EMAG! Here’s best bowls I’ve ever been to ranked in order. Note only 3 of 11 we played in I wouldn’t be inclined to go back to:
1) Rose bowl- obviously never saw GT play in it but it’s head & shoulders above the rest
2) Music City- Nashville is a very entertaining town. Had a blast.
3) Citrus Bowl- Natty, actual bowl venue sucked but Orlando has alot to do. Same for other Orlando bowls.
4) Orange Bowl- good& bad, Miss St good, actual bowl venue sucked
5) Smurf Turf Bowl- PJ Daniels went wild, fantastic skiing, minor league hockey, great food & beer, etc. Missed 2nd chance to go.
6) Holiday Bowl- San Dog is very fun. Another non-GT bowl.
7) Gator Bowl- beat ND, missed UK,lost to WV/**** Rod. Been to Jax enough to know venue sucks. Always has, always will.
8) Peach Bowl- LSU killed us but peach drop afterwards is cool. Home town bowl is boring.
9) Aloha Bowl- ok Oahu is nice to visit with ArizMem, surfing, Waikiki, etc but bowl sucks big time. Travel blew .
10) Nut Bowl- venue sucked but SF and surrounding areas good to visit, ie Tahoe, Reno, Monterrey w/Pebble Beach
Others not worth attending: Silicon Valley (you just can’t get the mud puddle out of your mind), Shreveport (even casino doesn’t make it not suck) , All-American in B’ham (we did beat Mich St otherwise horrid)

Sucks to be you... How about support the S/A at GT ? Your a great fan... Maybe you need to find another team. There are plenty w " rec sport majors " who are going to bowls you seem " worthy".

Great post @flea77 . I will never understand complaining about a chance the cheer on the White and Gold.

Bowl games are a great reward for players who have busted their asses all year. Some of whom have never had a chance to travel much. The swag is a nice reward also. These things make me appreciate 39 bowls when the football purist in me might prefer 20.

I hope this bowl season is a little bit more relaxed for the players than maybe is normal. Especially once they fly up there. Hope they have a blast and a fun game to end on.

My Xmas wish is to see Parker, Kenny, and Will lined up beside each other in the GCG box a significant amount and just watch them maul. It never quite came together that way this year.... but for the bowl...it’s time.

Don't bet on it. Turns out this is in the top 25 of fan favorite matchups.

Minnesota vs. Georgia Tech
Dec. 26, 5:15 p.m. ET, ESPN
Ford Field, Detroit

There's no chance Paul Johnson doesn't do something awesome in his final game before retirement. Maybe he abandons the option and throws it 50 times. Maybe he lets a random fan call plays for the entire third quarter. Maybe he just leaves at halftime, walks across the Ambassador Bridge and takes up ice fishing in Canada full time. There's literally nothing we can write off.

PJ at his best!!!! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
