Wow, Miami just got a commit from 5-star Lonnie Walker. Larranaga is an elderly monster down there.

Chase Jeter got hurt today against Penn St. 4th Duke F or C to get injured. Allen also got injured but returned to the game.

The N&O does not think the injury is serious, but something else from that game is alarming for us. We play Penn State in just over a week and they hung with Duke most of the way.

Anyone want to put an o/u on how many made baskets we have against UVA. Through 5 games they have given up 71 made baskets and allowed opponents to shot 29%. Their defense has been flat out nasty this season so far.
I'm setting it at 11.5. Going to be alot of scoring droughts in that game.

How about we look at whether we score more against UVA or Louisville. Despite the fact they lost today watching them roll 4 long athletic bodies that will give Lammers fits and anyone who tries to drive the basket (aka TJ).

Either way I agree there are going to be some scoring issues this year. :(

They have indeed been nasty, but the level of competition gets elevated the next two games.

Some quick thoughts.
Pitt really took MD to the woodshed last night. MD closed the gap in the second half some but Young and Artis can be impressive. They don't really have a PG.

NC ST - really talented team, but one that seems to play dumb a fair bit and doesn't seem to care about defense alot of the time

Syracuse - last 2 games have been rough. Wisky really abused them last night.

Duke - they are missing 3 McD AA and still look top 10. They could be insanely good if they get back to full strength.

My thoughts to a T. The NC State fans around me are really puzzled as to why this team, which seems so talented, is struggling so much, even when they win. Cuse looked great against some pretty weak teams, then USCe smothered them defensively and they just got their asses kicked last night. Talent wise, we should not beat either of these teams, but they are missing something inside their heads (or hearts).

Gottfried is coaching his last year in Raleigh. Mark my words.
Omer Yurtseven has to sit for two games IIRC. They hope he's the answer, but that does not necessarily help beyond this year. The problem is that he is likely a one and done. So is Dennis Smith.

I know. It's always something with him. Lot of talent on his teams, middling results.

Dennis Smith sometimes looks like he is auditioning more for the NBA than trying to win a college basketball game.
He will pound the ball a little and then hunt his shot rather than get an easy shot for a teammate. Talented player though.

I don't know why you think Gottfried is on the way out unless someone else hires him. Decent to good record and has a potentially really good team this year (Red's comments about Smith notwithstanding). And Yao has announced her retirement next year so she ain't really up to be firing and hiring just before she takes off.
