NCSU with a big win yesterday. Should make the Tourney as long as they don't go winless down the stretch.
in other interesting news, it looks like the B1G is going to try to start to get the ball rolling on Freshmen ineligibility. Pac12 Larry Scott was the first one to mention this over a year ago. Looks like B1G will look at it seriously and develop a proposal. Swofford had positive initial comments on it. This is a long way from being enacted (B1G making it clear they won't do it unilaterally - will look to get the conferences to buy in), but interesting that it is being talked about. I believe the SEC would be quite against it (alot of college coaches - especially blue blood types would likely not like it).
It would be a huge deal in basketball. Likely ending the one and dones. As they would at that point probably skip college and either play in Europe, D League or just work out for a year. Football is a lesser impact as alot of kids redshirt anyways, but would imo hit the SEC the most as they get the most kids who are physically ready to play as FR. Could also lead to alot of those top FB kids only playing for 2 years (instead of three) as they redshirt yr 1 and then play years 2 and 3 and leave. That would also likely affect SEC more.
FWIW, I like the idea. If they are going to be student-athletes, its time to start pulling the pendulum back. If the NFL and NBA want to have a minor league be my guest and stop using colleges as free training for the kids. What I would do is not only have FR ineligible - but also have them ineligible to take part in any athletic activities until their second semester. Coaches would hate that - but it would show that you are there to start to get an education.
