ACC Bowl Discussion

As of now, I believe the conference is 2-7 in bowl games. Is this a meaningful stat in your opinion or just a random number? Whatever the case it's hard to spin this in a positive fashion imo.

Not positive, but just a data point. Others will make it a big deal, though, so it stinks.

pretty much never is. ACC has been bad for about a decade straight now outside of runs from Clemson and the growing monetary gap is only going to make it worse.

I thought Miami 41 - 35 was a final. Obviously it was not.

America's Crappiest Conference status continues - heck, NC State is currently losing to East Carolina. I actually picked several of these losers in my Bowl Mania game. What was my brain thinking? Cuse should have been the only one I picked.

Cristobal sucks. I knew when he chose to kick a FG on 4th down, they would lose 42-41. His D couldn't stop anybody the whole game.

Definitely a bad year but looking back a lot of times we end up with the 2nd or 3rd most wins among conferences. A lot of years most conferences have losing records outside of one big winner or conferences that only send 3-4 teams. Again, abysmal year this year but it’s not like the ACC has been sporting sub .400 records year after year. ACC also sends a large number of teams to bowls every year meaning the fringe teams get in and then get waxed

Yea. ACC playoff performance was awful granted they were the 11 and 12 seed, so at a disadvantage in terms of expected match up. Probably an unpopular opinion considering their losses and games they maybe should have lost… but I think Miami does better than Clemson or SMU if they had made it. Miami has its issues but Cam Ward is one of those players that can make up for a lot of warts.

With one quarter remaining, East Carolina leads NCS 20-7. ACC looking terrible. We will hear the ESPN talking heads ridiculing the ACC for the next 6 months. Of course they do that continually regardless of how ACC teams perform.

You’re right.
When the ACC performs favorably, the “wins by conference” graphics are hard to find. I bet we will see it a bunch after the SEC picks up another win or two this year.
It’s largely meaningless but a lot of folks will try hard to say it isn’t.

FWIW, the ACC is 0-2 in the games that mattered. The ACC’s two top teams went on the road to play top 6 opponents. That hurt. I think that’s going to be the case for the ACC and or Big 12 in years where there is a conference championship upset.

The bowl system needs to die and the playoffs need to expand. Just add an extra conference game to the regular to replace the bowl game and balance out conference schedules. No one cares about them other than ESPN and the corrupt bowl execs.
