Us ol' timers just have a hard time with this. We want to believe but have a hard time letting go of our past fears and insecurities. I saw the exact same thing today on the hallmark channel, where there was this big time female CEO who was very succesful but also very lonely. She went on a quick getaway to the mountains to clear her head where she meets a guy with a golden retriever who carved duck decoys and built furniture for a living. He was a widower who lost his wife early in a tragic fly fishing incident. I won't ruin the rest of it for you but PM me if you want more details. BTW, it's replaying tomorrow at 3 PM EST, 2 PM CST. If you watch it you will want some Kleenex. According to my friend of course who saw it.
I already need a kleenex [sniff]. Saw something almost just like that on Lifetime, or was it WE...

Or it could vault us up in the rankings assuming they start the season ranked. The problem for teams like us is we don't get to start the season ranked in the top ten like the blue bloods making it harder to reach the CFP. We have to have signature wins to leapfrog teams in the rankings whereas there are some teams that get that level gifted to them and just have to win to maintain their status.
we very well may be ranked if we win our bowl game, doesn’t really matter though, win 10 games and you are likely in the top 12 at the end of the season.

Easy works if you only lose 1 or (maybe) 2 games. Once you hit that 3rd loss... you need it to be a very difficult schedule.
Of course. but the point of an easy OOC schedule is to help avoid that 3rd loss. And if this season is an indicator, having a third loss with a tough schedule doesn't do anything but hurt your W/L record.
All else being equal, the easy OOC schedule yields a lower risk of the 3rd loss.

Looking at the seven-year schedule below (Including this year-2024), GT has Clemson 4 times, FSU 3 times Miami 3 times, Louisville 5 times, and SMU 4 times. Add UGA to each of those years plus one medium weight P4 Team plus Notre Dame every 3 or 4 years is more than an adequate schedule to attract fans plus have a strength of schedule that is adequate for the CFP.

Supposedly the top QB recruit is coming there.
I watched him play in the state semi finals last week against Buford. Carrolton won the game but I wasn't particularly impressed with him as a QB. They won the game at the line of scrimmage on both offense and defense, not because he showed amazing talent as either a passer or a runner. He certainly didn't impress me near as much as Philo or Trevor Lawrence in their senior years. In other words, I don't feel like he will determine whether we win or lose at Colorado next year.

Sounds kinda similar to my story…

My wife went on a girls trip a few years ago and called to tell me what a great time she was having. Connection wasn’t great, but I could hear her friends in the background raving about the man they met last night. I know what I heard, but my wife insisted they raving about the “carved ducks” he’d given them all. Her friends were euphoric… I could hear them! One guy, all night, “carved duck” after “carved duck” after “carved duck.” Three “carved ducks” given to each of them and each was more beautiful and exciting than the last. Then he insisted that they stay and learn to blow his duck call…

I wasn’t having it. I was off to carve up this ducking guy myself!

Long story short, phone connection was fine, i may have misunderstood. Perhaps jumped to conclusions. I made bail and charges were ultimately dropped. If you ever visit, you may be inclined to ask, “hey, what’s the deal with all of the broken duck decoys?” Please don’t go there.

LOL. We play UNCheat and NCSU the fewest of all (2) over the next 10 years. How did that happen?

Colorado, in Boulder freaking mile-high CO is a team that may very well beat us- even if we are really damned good next season. That alone could be enough to keep us out of the playoffs, even if we have a great rest of the season. It could be the difference btwn 10 or 9 wins, Why risk it?
Or…we just win the ACC
