I knew Duquesne had a law school. I did not know their football team was primarily composed of lawyers. They had 135 total yards against BC. Seems unfair.

At least we weren’t playing Northern freaking Illinois today.
100%. I watched them beat Nebraska live a few years back. Then saw them beat us the following year.

After learning more about their coach and seeing his teams in action, I'm not surprised they held on against ND. Dude is a solid coach, and his teams come to play every game.

Pompous primetime getting absolutely plowed is the only thing helping me lick wounds right now

Every announcer/media would sodomize themselves for Colorado to win.
Which makes them losing fantastic.
A replay of 1990. That was a season-long love fest for the Buffs.

Never understood all the hype for the NCSU qb transfer. UT looked good. Should make some noise in the SEC . Not surprised at the loss but not by that much.
Not surprised either. Not sure why it is but for as long as I can remember most ACC schools don’t play well at all in the first half of the season.

Just checked yesterday’s ranked team results. A breakdown:
  • Teams 1-4 won big against unranked FCS or G5 although Bama didn’t pull away until the 4th.
  • 5 (ND) lost to unranked G5 (!)
  • 6 won big against G5
  • 7, 8 (Oregon, Penn St.) won but had scares against G5 competition
  • 9 won against G5
  • 10 had a 3-score loss to #3
  • 11 won a B12 conference game against unranked opponent
  • 12 trounced an FCS team
  • 13 trounced a G5
  • 14 whipped a ranked ACC team
  • 15 eked out a 4 -pt win against G5
  • 16 B12 beat a lower-tier SEC team by a score
  • 17 B12 survived a scare against G5
  • 18 SEC beat FCS by only 3 scores
  • 19 B12 lost to unranked B1G
  • 20 B12 beat FCS by only 12
  • 21 B1G lost to unranked B12
  • 22 ACC soundly beat unranked G5
  • 23 lost ACC conference game
  • 24 ACC lost big to higher-ranked SEC
  • 25 ACC crushed G5
Takeaways:
  • With the exception of over-ranked ND and a couple of B1G teams, the top-tier teams mostly did what was expected.
  • The majority of teams haven’t begun conference play yet.
  • The separation between P4 and G5 doesn’t seem to be as great as many think.
  • Most mid-to-low ranked teams appeared vulnerable. Not surprising given this is week 2 and the rankings remain highly speculative.
  • The ACC and the B12 didn’t do much to help the perception of their conference strength.
  • There will likely be quite a bit of movement in the rankings this week.
