Ewers is not a powerful runner and their OL was pretty outclassed at the goal line. I could see possibly bringing in Arch, or just power running it downhill but I honestly doubt either of those were going to work either. They needed some creativity at that point. It didn't work out but I don't blame them for not choosing to just run into a brick wall.
At some point you have to believe you can get 1 yard.

The OSU player pulled a Texas defender off the ball carrier after the whistle blew. That is an unsportsmanlike penalty and a 15 yard penalty.

You don’t see it often when the runner is not on the ground but it is still a penalty. I thought it was a weak call but within the official’s discretion.
I didn’t see that but I believe you. If we are talking about the same play the announcers missed it too. They focused on the OSU lineman “hitting late or after the whistle.”

Exactly, get under freaking center and run plays that don’t lose yardage
So, coaches should simply ignore all the data they have about their strengths and the opponents weaknesses, plus the situation data they have for both teams. If they had your contact info they wouldn't need all that research. Simply call @UgaBlows for the play call. Of course, you need to make sure you are watching the game live and not on some silly delay (like YT TV or Spectrum).

The offensive line has an advantage in that they know the snap count, and the initial surge of the OL is a very good bet to do the trick in very short yardage situations. Added to this is that the QB can get a push from behind. Pretty much a no-brainer in my book.

No, we should always accede to Authority with a capital A and never have any ideas of our own.
Of course, we see how it turned out for Texas, but I'm sure the coach knows best because some guy with a keyboard told us not to question him.

Feedback from fans is the new consensus style of college coaching 🤣.

That's a great picture. Derrick Morgan's looking up & saying that dwag sure got ****ed up good on that play! 8 leghumper fans in background with wtf looks on their faces. Ump is facing the wrong direction, flag at the ready probably fixated on making sure Stafford doesn't get touched.
Moreno had made several highlight reels that year jumping over tacklers. Even though the media kept hyping Moreno, Jonathan Dwyer actually had better statistics that year. Prior to the game, when asked about Dwyer, Moreno replied something like “ Who’s Jonathan Dwyer? I’ve never heard of him.” After this tackle, you could feel the wind go out of u(sic)GA’s sails.
