The Birmingham Bowl officials send their greetings.Apparently that contact can be real OR imagined....as I have seen plenty of cases where it was truly incidental at most.

Texas would have been a lighter opponent. OSU will be formidable, but I think ND might have a surprise waiting for them.I’ve got a ND to win the national championship ticket made before the playoffs. It’s too expensive to hedge on the Ohio St ML. I was rooting for Texas since that matchup would have been closer to even and hedgeable.
I give ND about a 55% chance of winning it. They exhibited a damn near shut-down defense against Ugag.Who looked stronger to you…
Notre Dame vs uga?
Or
Ohio State vs Texas?
Does that tell us anything? Before people jump up and down to say “no” let me hasten to add, “Of course not, it tells us nothing. No.”
But, just for fun. Here’s the comparison. Notre Dame beat the stronger team based on Georgia’s 2 games with Texas. Notre Dame’s defense controlled Georgia’s offense, holding them to 10 points, and Notre Dame’s offense controlled the game for much of the 4th quarter to run out the clock. It was a decisive win in which Notre Dame controlled most of the game.
Ohio State played a weaker Texas team that has shown multiple times that they like shooting themselves in the foot. Texas played an inspired game in front of a Texas audience and did not lose control of the game until some questionable goal line offensive play calling late in the game.
On the surface at least it appears Notre Dame is playing more disciplined and consistent ball. They make few mistakes and their coaches call a good game. Ohio State, on the other hand, is the kind of team that doesn’t have to play their best game to beat you. They have lots of weapons on offense and defense.
Place your bets.

That money line will get even bigger between now and kickoff. Good luck. I hate (the) OSU.
Recall that Marvin Harrison, Jr. was hacked out of that game using the same tactic that Haynes King virtually was. Thanks! The spread is too large in my opinion.
My tin foil hat radar thought the officiating in Penn St / ND game was biased towards supporting the conference team to get the win and am more concerned about the officiating than Ohio St. Ohio State is talented but so is ND.
I’m still peeved about 2022 Ohio St choking against the dwags. If they choke again, I’ll call it even and collect my winnings.
Other times the NCAA Zofficials let defenders mug and strip receivers with no penalty called. As expected with so many conferences and college football games the officiating on PI is varies greatly. That's exactly what I said above. My issue is that NCAA refs still call PI on plays where faceguarding is the only "infraction."
Face guarding has never been a penalty in college football. It has always been a penalty in Pro football.Face guarding used to be a penalty. I haven’t seen it called in years, so it must have been changed at some point.
Officials have always flagged contact (and continue to) when the defender is not playing the ball. If he is playing the ball, much more “incidental contact” is allowed as both have equal right to pursue possession.
