In my humble opinion, there were at least 2 calls, either one or both of which, turned the tide against Boise State. This no-call is one, with the other being the Boise State TD being called back on an unsportsmanlike penalty.

After that, what happened is a movie I feel like I’ve seen a hundred times. A team gets several bad calls, falls behind and starts pressing, and they fall apart right as the other team is peaking on the momentum change.

We will probably witness again the absolute ineffectiveness of the transitive property in college football today, even though shills for the SEC use it all the time when it suits them.

But here is the mysterious comparison. Notre Dame overwhelms a Tech team that is riddled with injuries, whereas a healthy Tech team impressively whips up on uga. So it’s difficult to compare a Notre Dame blow out of Tech with uga barely eking out a desperation win over Tech.

But I know what I want to see. I’m afraid I want it too badly.

Anecdotal.... I haven't scrubbed all the possible connections & obviously potential conflicts of interest. But UVAs AD (Carla Williams) is on the committee. She's a former UGA athlete & later part of their athletic department. I'm pretty sure the rules do NOT require her to recuse herself from discussing UGA re rankings for the committee. Just UVA and/or if she has family/kids as part of other teams discussed.

This was her 1st (of 3) year on the committee.

I'm not suggesting UGA shouldn't have made the field this year... but these committee members have biases. Perhaps they all cancel out... but I doubt that. I also don't have a better system in mind to select a field. I can think of many "different" systems... better is more difficult.
uga was the conference champion. No bias was necessary.

Understood. My point was to show an example of a committee member with ties to a team involved in the rankings this year & the next 2. I'm sure there a similar examples with other committee members. My "sense" is some teams benefit & others are disadvantaged by these dynamics.

You're correct about UGA this year. It didn't impact things since UGA was a conference champ & Boise St, ASU, & Clemson were too. UGAs spot at #2 couldn't really be contested.

They didn't know the outcome of the SEC CG when uga was playing Tech. If uga loses and then loses to UT, they're out. If uga beats Tech, regardless of the SEC CG, they're in. That's the point that was being made. I don't know if it was intentional or subconscious, but there was a bias in calls made in that game that led to uga not losing.

You are correct. And anyone disputing you is trying to rewrite history. We heard before the game, and all during the game, and especially during the overtimes, that uga was in the playoffs if they beat Tech.

Why wouldn’t they have been in by beating GT. 7 of 8 P4 teams who played in their made the CFP. Only Iowa State didn’t make the CFP. Iowa State lost the Big 12 Title Game 49-19.

I don't think anyone should dispute that uga, as the SEC CG loser, shouldn't have been in AFTER beating GT. But, if they would have lost to us and to UT, they would have been 8-4, and would not have gotten in over a 9-3 Alabama team or a 9-3 Ole Miss team that beat them head-to-head.

Great game!

ASU D has been good. If they hadn’t taken the first two plays off, this looks very different right now. ASU has left a ton of points on the field also…
Ewers has looked absolutely horrible for Texas, hard to believe Manning isn't better
