Those are some big’ uns there. We need to start recruiting midwestern farm boys.I'd say that NIU would beg to differ on the 'it takes 5 - 7 years for an O-line to develop' mantra.
Look at their roster...mostly underclassman:
60 Evan Buss OL 6-6 315 Fr Kimberly, WI 72 Brendan Carr OL 6-7 293 Fr Hanna, IN 76 John Champe OL 6-4 321 Fr Brookfield, WI 70 Marques Cox OL 6-6 306 Soph Peoria, IL 75 Leif Engstrand OL 6-8 331 Fr Oconomowoc, WI 68 Marko Gbedo OL 6-3 330 Fr Alsip, IL 79 J.J. Lippe OL 6-5 311 Fr Milwaukee, WI 73 Brandon MacKinnon OL 6-5 282 Fr Lakeville, MA 50 Pete Nygra OL 6-4 289 Fr North Indianapolis, IN 58 Brayden Patton OL 6-5 309 Sr Ellettsville, IN 77 Luke Pinnick OL 6-4 291 Fr State Center, IA 74 Tyler Pitcel OL 6-4 306 Fr Mukwonago, WI 69 Nolan Potter OL 6-6 308 Soph Cedar Rapids, IA 64 Matt Schooley OL 6-2 303 Fr Wisconsin Rapids, WI 62 Seth Thompson OL 6-4 288 Fr Eden Prairie, MN 66 Anthony Vacula OL 6-4 325 Fr Hales Corners, WI 78 Jack Wilty OL 6-4 309 Fr Altoona, IA 65 Logan Zschernitz OL 6-3 311 Fr Spencer, WI
and they have been WAY more successful than GT in that regard. Sad, but true.
some of those freshmen are probably covid freshman so really in their second year. Still a very young group anyway you slice it.Wait, they have 15 freshman offensive lineman on their team??

They were younger than us when we played them.some of those freshmen are probably covid freshman so really in their second year. Still a very young group anyway you slice it.
But now that we’ve got the culture and branding locked in we can start coaching them now. “CGCs world - where it’s always Year Zero”.They were younger than us when we played them.
No offense, but I wouldn't mind if we dropped the Waffle House connection...........Maybe Atlanta has more Waffle Houses.
No offense, but I wouldn't mind if we dropped the Waffle House connection...........
Well, when you put it that way.............Wait a minute here friend! I would say I have derived more satisfaction out of WaHo than I have from GT FB over the last 5 or 6 years. Don't blame the Waffle House for our recent struggles.
Don't know about that. Some of our best recruits have waffled.Don't blame the Waffle House for our recent struggles.
I should also not forget that "WaHo" was started by TECH guys...............my badDon't know about that. Some of our best recruits have waffled.
Exactly! Waffle House has mastered elite levels of dining mediocrity. Personally I love it because there are never any surprises, it’s always the same, and you know what you are getting every time.Wait a minute here friend! Great pointI'd say that NIU would beg to differ on the 'it takes 5 - 7 years for an O-line to develop' mantra.

But according to many guys, such as @forensicbuzz, the COVID year doesn't count towards anything so they are really just freshmen (lol)some of those freshmen are probably covid freshman so really in their second year. Still a very young group anyway you slice it.
Waffle House is probably thinking, “no offense, but we wouldn’t mind if GT dropped the Waffle House connection.”No offense, but I wouldn't mind if we dropped the Waffle House connection...........
I'm counting everyone. There were zero OL recruits in 2019. I went through this in a previous post in this thread if you want to look it up. The bottom line is we've had two OL classes under CGC, '20 and '21, so his earliest OL recruit will be entering Year 3 on the GT campus, That would be a junior or RS sophomore under normal circumstances.Arent you counting cpj last class as cgc class?
Cgc was here by himself trying to hire staff and we accepted that group.
.
They're also not facing the front 7 we are. So, there's always that. Not exactly apples to apples. But, we should have performed better.I'd say that NIU would beg to differ on the 'it takes 5 - 7 years for an O-line to develop' mantra.

Others more knowledgeable can confirm or refute this but there are rumblings that the two defensive linemen are not exactly "oven ready" as the saying goes. One was injured and did not even play his senior year and the other ballooned up 40lbs and was moved to offense. Caveat Emptor applies to recruiting and the portal much as it does in kicking the tires in a used car lot. IIWIII know that, but the recruiting isn't the problem, it's the coaching. And it might be a 40 rank, but the point is that we got three 4-star linemen, two of them on defense. We got what we needed most.
K.J. Miles didn't play last year, but he committed to us over Texas and Wisconsin.Others more knowledgeable can confirm or refute this but there are rumblings that the two defensive linemen are not exactly "oven ready" as the saying goes.
