Terrible game all around. Horrible shooting night. From all angles and distances too.

12 steals and only 8 fast break points.
18 or 19 turnovers by cuse and only 8 points off turnovers.

Players couldn’t recognize and capitalize when they had advantage. I think that’s a focus/drive/intensity thing. Maybe a confidence thing.

If there was a bright spot, for me it was mustaf. He actually looked more veteran than our veterans. Of course he also missed some transition layups that could have been critical, and he really sucks at free throws (everyone did tonight, but he always does). P.s. how can you be a top 100 high school guard and suck at free throws?

CDS deserves at least three years, prob four; five may be pushing it if we stay mediocre.
But something he’s repeatedly said recently defies logic from my view. He said “he’s a different coach in practice; he gets after the guys.” Then, come gametime, he’s stoic, emotionless at times. A grimace here/there, but basically a low key expression. On a number of occasions our team has come out flat, low energy, lethargic. If you coach one way in practice - and players are a mold of their coach (leading to good prep for game) - then why go calm for the actual games?
Stands to reason the players are a reflection of the coach - subsequently following his flat temperament during games. CDS, here’s the reality IMO. This team needs you riled up. It lacks a true go-to leader; more than maybe any other time once you get the culture established and all “your guys” in place … now is the time for the head coach to be that - THE LEADER - during practice, and especially in games.

Sad Stoudamire stands there most of the time with no emotion or direction to motivate the guys during the game
Can you blame him? Depth, size, shooting, athleticism. All right there. Still play like Neanderthals seeing fire for the first time.

Shouldn’t be a coaches job to motivate, we have the glorious NIL now! They’re all working for the off-season raises and paychecks for their next team, and the team after that. Unless of course you’re uncoachable, then you just have a head fit and quit on your team.

Suckered into thinking this team turned a corner and the program does what it always does.

Can we redirect our ire toward the broadcast duo?
  • Did you know that Syracuse's game plan was to make Nait George shoot?
  • Did you know that this was a physical game? (it wasn't)
  • Did you know that Syracuse's star freshman, Donnie Freeman, was hurt? (no mention of O'Brien or Reeves)
Yep. The broadcast was bush league…

I vaguely remembered these things through the course of the game 🤣

Name three of them…
We’ve done that already.

Ok, I shouldn’t have taken your comment as an attack so here is one example of this line of coaches:

It perhaps started with John Wooden, considered one of the greatest college coaches ever, and includes people like NBA coach Phil Jackson, considered one of the top coaches in NBA history.

If John wooden didn't egregiously pay for the best players in the country, nobody would GAF about his stupid pyramid or whatever.

"Great" coach? More like great cheat. :cautious:

(not)Sorry for the slander. I have some odd opinions yall mightve noticed.

I was wrong about this team. I thought we had enough shooters that if the team was having an off night someone would pick the team up. Nobody got in rhythm tonight. Nobody.

My only question is why did we look so leg weary tonight? We hustled but were just stiff and slow looking.
Well... with all due respect, two of our better shooters are on the bench with boots on their foot.

I don’t follow. Construct a practice court to simulate the carrier dome? It’s gotta be a regulation size court. Is it a depth perception thing? How are you gonna simulate that? I don’t buy it anyway. Shooters can shoot… anywhere anytime. These guys have shot tens of thousands of shots in their lives in hundreds of different indoor and outdoor venues. I don’t believe there is a depth perception issue, but what do I know.
You've obviously never shot in a dome. It ain't the same... It is called depth-perception. Trust me, it makes a difference.

That said, we had an opportunity to practice in the dome and we were in shootarounds, so while it was an issue, it typically works itself out as the game goes on.

Not to mention, they weren't shooting it very well either.

Yep. Sadly, with them out, we offensively seem to 'go' as McCollum goes. Seeing his early shooting struggles last night gave me serious pause. I hoped he'd get it going but it wasn't so, sadly.

Oh and, did you know, SorryCuse wanted to make Naithan George a scorer last night? The broadcast was sure to tell us that only about 435,983 times.

But I'm not still bitter...

Oh don’t forget constantly repeating that NTG is one of the best PGs in the country. The CC guy said that about another player in this game as wel.

Look, Nait is very good, one of my favorites and a really good story. But he is a poor man’s Ed Cota and clearly doesn’t have the talent around him Cota did.

The things that really reeeeaallllly **** me off is stuff like:

-Duncan Powell going behind the back with three guys around him as if those guys fell off a cliff once he got by them.

-NTG (I think) throwing the chicken wing out there just a few minutes after the officials made that same call against someone else.

-Baye’s STUPID fouls.

-Not recognizing when to pull the ball back out when the break looks like garbage.

-NTG throwing that pass up the sideline to I believe Powell and right outta bounds when there was really no benefit to getting the ball to that location

Just low IQ plays that you don’t see a whole lot of good teams make. In a game where the margin is so thin you have to value the basketball and this program seems to make dumb plays at the absolute WORST times. Not this team, this program, YoY is just…damn.

Thank goodness we have a talented women's team that plays hard and can actually score and make free throws! I turned it off last night and played Roblox with my kid...much more rewarding.

Our front court players shot 5 for 17 (.294) in that game. They (Ndongo, Mutombo, Souare and Powell) had 17 total looks of GT's 66 (26%) field goal attempts.

Those numbers are horrendous. Ndongo himself should be getting double digit looks every game.

Only 8 assists on 24 made field goals is also bad. The offense was not prepared to attack their D.
