Tbh, I think the fans are all done with him, but seeing the monetary repercussions of firing him (blame the AD), we have to keep him for 2022.
Top donors seemed to be okay to get rid of him this year, but the AD "had his man" and decided to keep him around for another year, tying their fates...
I don't think Key himself is performing as badly as it looks. I think the issue is more on injuries along the OL
We haven't had Kriby, Pendley for most of the season. Williams was hurt at the start and is quite inexperienced anyway.
We were back to playing Lay who was a walk on.
And this...
Would be good to add to the QB room as Yates graduates in May so not sure about his status moving forward. Might take the chance to start somewhere else.
Note the point where he said the starting 11 might see some changes based on last week's performance.
Interesting to see what will come off that in the game this weekend. Maybe some young guys are going to be asked to step up and play some serious minutes in the game.
In a situation like this, I'm happy we have Collins as a HC. He's got the recruiting and roster management pieces down (as per that SI article about college GMs) and I feel that'll give us a competitive advantage
With the free year and its impact on scholarships, it seems that it's going to be tough to balance the roster in the coming years. Check out this Stat by KQ:
He also says that this is going to affect the number of scholarships available for HS recruits going forward.
I'm also hoping we can get JP drafted. Him and Gibbs sharing touches would be great even if it means neither has crazy stats - the tape will do the talking.
And Gibbs still has another year or two once JP is gone to rack up more and more tape
