  1. this will be the 200th GT-UGA men's basketball game! / any favorite COFH hoops memories?

Here's an obscure blast from the past. Tech would play Georgia U two or three times a year and the rivalry was much stronger. Georgia's coach was Ken Rosemond, but the students called him 'Rosebud'. Georgia had a guard named Steve Zlko in the early 70's who slicked back his hair during a era...
  2. 680/93.7 Signal

I've mentioned it many times but usually there's no response, so I figured it was just my problem. But reception has been ridiculously bad for as long as I remember. When the broadcast was on WGST, there was a background hum and power was cut down at sunset. On 680, we miss coverage every time...
  3. AP Ranking

Being ranked by the AP is much better than not being ranked, but they have been the least reliable gage through the years. Most sportswriters, whether they want to admit it or not, tend to rank teams with lots of fans higher up. Happy fans read more newspapers and listen to more sports shows...
  4. GAMEDAY!!

1.I'll be in my car at 8:00PM just east of Atlanta. Does anybody know how I can listen to the Tech game on my radio? The tiny WFOM signal in Marietta doesn't reach this far. 2. Once I get to a computer to watch the game, does anybody know which service carries ACC network? Thanks!
  5. What is your favorite win as a Jacket fan?

One favorite of mine was against North Carolina in 1974. Tech scored a 4th quarter TD then the Tar Heels scored two TD's to go up 28-21 with about a couple of minutes left. Randy Rhino ran the following kickoff past midfield. Then Jimmy Robinson caught three passes in a row, After Tech ran the...
  6. Jackets Travel to Louisville, 2/10/2024, MBB

Kelly scored 36 points, yet his +/- was -8. Thank about that! Against Wake his was -32. I looked at the last twelve games and Reeves and Ndongo both net over -100. Kelly is not far behind. In those 12 games Ndongo, Reeves, and Kelly have only ended on the + side twice each. (+8 was the best)...
  7. 11/9 - MBB vs. Howard

Woohoo! Sounds like we're 50% on our way to the championship.
  8. 11/9 - MBB vs. Howard

Early season issues that need to be addressed: After watching the exhibition and the first game with all the 3 pointers, layups and dunks, I was wondering if this team had anybody that can shoot the running floater as it will be of great value this season. (Terry possibly?) I got my answer last...
  9. Boston College Post Game Thread

Calling the timeout and then punting is a decision out of Collins' and Gailey's playbooks. That timeout should have been saved for just after the BC receiver caught the pass sliding on the ground. I wasn't sure that catch was clean.
  10. Bowling Green Post Game... 😢

No? Well, I'll give my closet a look. Surely I've got a more attractive ridiculous hyperbole in there somewhere.
  11. Bowling Green Post Game... 😢

With Tech's 'marketing' folks, I wouldn't be surprised if next time they want to add some red trim to the black uniforms as a contrast color and think the school will make a lot of money selling the stylish look to fans.
  12. GT Vollebees

Perhaps because of her knee injuries, they are limiting her minutes.
  13. GT Vollebees

I was at the match. The digs were outstanding, the setting was horrible. The hitting was almost nonexistent at times, but too many balls were sent to hitters too far back and also right in the heart of the defense. I lost count of how many lollipops Tech floated just over the net that got...
  14. GT @ Syracuse 2/28/23 GAME THREAD

Dalrymple, Scott, Anderson, Shumpert.....and now FRANKLIN!
  15. Top 10 All-Time GT Men's Basketball Teams

I think 84-85 was as good or better. Refs called Salley for his fifth foul early but refused to call a fifth on the four Georgetown players with four fouls each as they continued to hammer away on Tech shooters. Price was ice cold shooting that day 3-16! That was also the year that Tech had a...
  16. LOUISVILLE 2/1/23 GAME THREAD

Many games this year have followed an 'interesting' pattern. Tonight was a good example. Pastner has always stressed low turnovers and tonight Tech had a very respectable 5 while Louisville had 15! (with 9 to 5 in steals and 5 to 1 in blocks). Pastner says offensive rebounds are vital and Tech...
  17. What is the best single-game performance you've seen out of a Tech player?

I was at that game. 'Somebody' got confused and Tech wound up kicking off to start both halves.
  18. What is the best single-game performance you've seen out of a Tech player?

I have no single performance because there were so many great ones to beat Georgia U. But another memorable one was Jimmy Robinson in the 29-28 win over North Carolina in 1974. I don't recall him ever dropping a pass in his career. The exact details are a little fuzzy, but Carolina scored a TD...
  19. Is this our best coaching staff of all time?

I agree. Somebody should start a thread about Georgia Tech football through the years and national rankings. I'd have a lot to say! HA
  20. Is this our best coaching staff of all time?

Actually, the 1951 undefeated team was led by Darrell Crawford and the 1952 undefeated team was led by Bill Brigman. Rodgers contributed more in 1952 than 1951 but the word 'led' does not apply to the undefeated seasons. Tech had a couple of great running backs each year, great defense, great...
