  1. Any news?? (stage 3: press coverage)

You cannot wait until that January date. That is absolutely not possible. You'll be behind every single other coaching search, you won't have any recruiting class, you'll lose any chance to play the transfer portal, you'll be fighting for scraps for the staff for whatever also-ran coach you...
  2. Any news?? (stage 3: press coverage)

It looks like there was an amendment dealing with COVID-19. Check section 2.4.
  3. Any news?? (stage 3: press coverage)

Yeah, so it doesn't matter if we fire him now or sometime later in the season. We cannot wait until January 1st for this for a wealth of reasons, so there really isn't a good reason to wait.
  4. If a change is made...

Traylor is a Texas guy. Might be a bit of a Texas version of Collins, but he's got proof of concept at UTSA. I really don't know if we can pull him away, and even if we did I see him at either TAMU or UT-Austin first chance he gets.
  5. If a change is made...

I'd argue Kansas was far more dead than we are. Problem with Leipold in my opinion is his age: he's already 58.
  6. If a change is made...

Lebby could work. ODU's guy is interesting, worth watching. The Virginia area is full of talent. He can use his staff to beef up Georgia connections. I tend to think area-fits are largely over-rated: get a good coach and they'll make the right connections. Chadwell is still tops in my...
  7. When Was The Last Time You Had Fun Watching A Tech Game?

2018 VT stands out. Always loved watching PJ spam one play for 8+ yards and seeing a defense want to claw their eyes out.
  8. Any news?? (stage 3: press coverage)

Contract has to be an open record, right? Anyone able to find the actual contract?
  9. Any news?? (stage 3: press coverage)

Hm, maybe I misheard. The FTRS podcast is supposed to get into it as well, we'll see what they find. Contracts can be confusing. If it is just the Jan 1 date, then it really doesn't make sense why we don't can him now.
  10. Any news?? (stage 3: press coverage)

From my understanding (various readings, both here and elsewhere), on Dec 1 the 2023 season drops off the buyout, and on Jan 1 the buyout changes from 100% of the remaining years to something less, like 50 or 75%. Steven Godfrey (@38godfrey, hosts Split Zone Duo) did a subscriber's podcast...
  11. Any news?? (stage 3: press coverage)

This is accurate. There are two buyout dates to be concerned with: one drop on Dec 1, and another on Jan 1. If we are firing him before next season, and it's readily apparent that we have to at this point, the Jan 1 date is out. That's way too late to put together a staff, salvage a...
  12. Geoff Collins worst GT coach of all time

He wasn't that successful at Temple. They were 20-7 over the prior two season with Matt Rhule with their worst loss being to a good Army team. Collins went 15-10, with some awful losses (namely, to UConn and Villanova).
  13. Props to Andrew Thacker (maybe CGC)

I think the takeaway is different if Klubnik played the whole game. DJ clearly isn't playing great in that offense, and I think that masked some of our defensive issues. I don't think we'll know if the defense is actually better until we see Ole Miss in week 3.
  14. Conference Realignment

It's clear that money is a necessary but not sufficient condition for success. You can compete occasionally with a team making about 20% more than you, but you can't compete long-term against a team that makes double you're budget, especially when that advantage compounds.
  15. UGA - Clean Old-Fashioned Hate

I think at this point he is what he is.
  16. IF THE UNTHINKABLE HAPPENS

The fundamental issues I think are pretty clear and obvious as a problem. It really doesn't matter if we have the greatest coach in the universe, we aren't going to compete while they are spending 10 times what we are, when their lowest ranked recruit is better than our best, when their coaching...
  17. IF THE UNTHINKABLE HAPPENS

Bit of a weird complaint. This type of thing happens all the time in every state. It's a mostly meaningless PR thing that takes no time for the governor to do.
  18. Where to begin? Offense or Defense?

Jamey Chadwell at Coastal Carolina. Might need to get him to shave the mullet off, but that's a fantastic coach that runs a very unique and fun offense.
  19. 🔥🔥🔥 Good Take on our Current Challenges

It's probably more that transfers are usually not staying at their old school for a reason.
  20. Staff Changes

That was a fascinating experiment to follow. They basically imported their entire passing attack, from QB, top 3 or 4 receivers, and coordinator, from Houston Baptist.
