If Thacker is staying, he needs to coach the LBs. He’s over his head as D coordinator and never should have been one at this point in his career, at least at Division 1.
You keep harping on this and I respect your input but after 3 years of a terrible product and other things to do during such a great time of year, do you really think the stadium will be full of Tech fans? I’ve been an avid GT fan for years and always will be (have 4 season tickets, donate, etc)...
The portal has created free agency within college football. It has also empowered the top programs in the country. Almost wonder if we should explore FCS football.
Sure, we’ll miss Gibbs but we have some really good talent in our backfield. The big pic is how will all this pan out. Will anything be salvageable for next year and can a new OC make enough of an impact. I sure hope so.
Now we are throwing pennies in a well...hire new coordinators that will most likely be gone in a year, watch some of our better players hit the transfer portal, keep Collins around another year for more pain. It’s better to punt here and start over, you can’t bandaid the mess right now. Let’s...
Program is in a complete tailspin. Think it would be wise to part with Collins now and start over. Keeping him another year will prolong the pain and the process.
The problem won’t be resolved with new coordinators. First of all, no coordinator worth anything would come here at this point. We need to start over with a new head coach.
Tstan made a terrible and rushed hire with a stupid contract for an unproven head coach. As for new coordinators, who worth a damn is going to coach under Collins? Collins will need to be fired before this mess can be cleaned up. Then can we trust Tstan to make a good hire?! I’m not confident...
If money is going to always be an issue for us, why not look at a head coach like Gary Goff at Valdosta State. He has a track record of turning programs around or making them better at all his stops along the way.
This initial post sounds good, but I disagree. If a coach can’t coach, then you can’t teach him to coach. If he has no discipline, then he’ll attract talented 4 stars who have no discipline. The longer we go the more Tech becomes known as a terrible football program. This will resonate with...
It could, we know the GA game is going to be very ugly and people are very upset about this failed experiment. Avoiding falling deeper into the abyss may be worth $4 million.
There are constructive ways to manage a buyout, especially in a low interest rate environment. They have to run an analysis on how much could be lost if they keep him. Interesting he just hired him.
