Has the cycle started to shift for the SEC?

Agree. Of the 4 teams in the SEC West that were ranked at the start of the season, three have already lost to OOC teams. Now they start playing each other, guaranteeing that some of their best teams will have two or more losses. Their reputation as the strongest division in college football is...

GT vs #17 Ole Miss GAME THREAD

"...two head coaches who were once on the same staff (at Alabama)" "Cornerback Zamari Walton, defensive end Jared Ivey, defensive tackle Akelo Stone and running back Jam (formerly Jamious) Griffin are all now Ole Miss Rebels...". Sharing this since it is pretty much public info. For some reason...

    CFP Discussion

Do you really think an undefeated ND is getting in before an undefeated SEC champ regardless of SoS? I don't think anyone is suggesting that. An undefeated SEC champ, such as uga, and an undefeated Michigan and Texas are all in. There could be a question about an undefeated FSU vs. an...

As of today, if ND goes undefeated they would have beaten two of the currently top-forecasted teams to make the CFP. That would almost certainly get them a spot. https://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/page/cfbplayoffpredictor/cfb-playoff-predictor

GT vs #17 Ole Miss GAME THREAD

We keep revisiting this topic (Tulane vs. GT talent) for some reason. As far as I can tell, 247 does not rerank players when compiling the talent composite. However, they have a separate ranking for transfers that does reevaluate players. Overall Team Talent: GT: 36, Tulane: 71. Transfer...

    Game 3 #GTvsOM Media

Yeah. He also comes across as direct, blunt, and doesn’t attempt to shape his responses to make a good sound bite or published quote. Reminds me a little bit of Saban in that respect.

    Loudspeaker Volume at Bobby Dodd

Mention of GT’s technical resources in this area got me thinking. Back in the 1970s (I think), Tech got Physics Prof. Patronis involved to improve the sound system at games. He was well respected within the industry and consulted with a number of well-known sound reinforcement brands. If I’m...

This is puzzling. What is your ticket rep saying about the problem? I would be surprised if its already a sellout.

Notre Dame's AD is on record as saying that the main thing that would induce them to join a conference is if they don't otherwise have a path to the playoffs.

    GAMEDAY!!

In-person attendance has a number of headwinds that are pushing it down. The wide availability, particularly in large cities, of many other entertainment options. The ubiquity of large hi-def television where one can see the game as well or better than in-person, and in the comfort of your home...

Haynes King Update: How Do We Feel About Him?

Agreed. Very similar to an awesome effort play in 2014 by DJ White to knock the ball out of James Connor’s hand at the goal line. Saved what would have been a 75-yard run for a TD. At that time I thought it was the best effort play I'd ever seen, but not sure if Nate's wasn't better since he had...

Has the cycle started to shift for the SEC?

A bit off-topic but for some reason I am able to play the NYT games online without a sub. My daughter also plays Wordle without a sub. I think I had to give them my email, and they spam me with links to their articles which are behind a paywall, but I can ignore that as needed.

    Loudspeaker Volume at Bobby Dodd

It's possible that the volume is set for the music/announcers to be heard over 50,000 screaming fans. When we don’t have 50,000 screaming fans, it's going to sound very loud. Also, to your point about emptiness, the volume will be significantly louder without the bodies of 50,000 fans to absorb...

    ACC Standings

Going by these rankings, we actually didn't draw that tough of a schedule, despite missing VT. We play the last and next-to-last teams while skipping #'s 1 and 3. Could have been worse. FSU beat us badly last year, and it appears they are stronger this year.

    Postgame GT 48 : SCST 13

Key seems to have a very low tolerance for easily preventable penalties. I think he is trying to instill a culture of discipline. I suspect a 15-yard unsportsmanlike is high on the list of any coach's anger triggers.

Has the cycle started to shift for the SEC?

Stewart Mandel of The Athletic has an interesting article today that covers the SEC’s struggles among other things, including Jeff Sims. Surprisingly, it is relatively grounded in realism (no hot takes about how if an SEC team loses an OOC game, it is because the OOC team belongs in the SEC). A...

J Batt Focused on Winning, Increasing Revenue

Batt is certainly saying the right things. I like his optimistic attitude. Has a great vision and seems to have a plan to get there. Citing our history as much as he did would indicate that, for a younger guy who’s not an alum, he is appreciative and respectful of it.

Haynes King Update: How Do We Feel About Him?

You make an interesting point that’s flown under the radar a bit. By this time of the season, most fanbases, ourselves included, are questioning the coach’s QB selection, particularly after a loss. Not many of us are, which says a lot about how CBK and his team are managing the decision process...

GT vs #17 Ole Miss GAME THREAD

Not sure how you arrived at this conclusion. I haven’t watched Tulane play so I don’t know about the “eye test” comparison, and I haven’t done a deep dive into Tulane’s recruits, but our overall “Talent Composite” is ranked 36th while Tulane’s is 71st. About what you’d expect. Perhaps they have...

GT vs #17 Ole Miss GAME THREAD

Not expecting a win, but I think we have a shot at covering the spread. A few things have changed since our 42-0 drubbing last year. We’ve not been blanked since Key took over. In 2022 our anemic offense was averaging about 14 points/game when TFG left, which includes the cupcake game. Under...
