    Conference Realignment

Not far off the mark. From Finebaum this morning, after assessing the SEC's performance this weekend - "...so how do you come out of the first weekend feeling very good, especially considering that 2 of those losses were to the ACC, especially 2 schools that many wonder could end up being in...

    Turnovers and Special Teams

I’m sure that Key is frustrated with special teams. First, we fixed the blocked punt problem last year, only to have runbacks be a problem. Then it appears we got better at preventing long runbacks but now can’t kick a FG. On a positive note, after GT’s first two KO returns didn’t make it past...

    Louisville Post Game

Agreed. Key has said repeatedly that he realizes players (and coaches) will make mistakes, but he seems to be instilling an attitude of recognizing them, owning them, and taking corrective action.

    About the MBS v. BDS@HGF

Would be interesting to see what our contract terms are. Specifically, if we (Tstan?) knowingly signed off on giving up a home game at BDS for a neutral site atmosphere at MBS. I hope the $$ benefit was large.

    Game 1 Key Decisions

At the time I had no problem with the long FG attempt before the half, even though it was far beyond our kicker's normal range – but not so sure now. Not because I've thought of a better play, but because of the missed FG in the second half. Stewart was money last year. 12/13 with his only miss...

    Conference Realignment

That's in the range of what I had estimated earlier in the thread. I haven't re-run the numbers based on the assumed more accurate data coming out today, but my assumptions were reasonably close. An extra $3M per year for us is significant.

    Tech vs. Louisville

As understand the rule, it's not necessarily 40 sec. The time difference this year is the time it would have taken for the crew to move the chains and the ref to spot the ball and signal ready to play, which under the old rules would occur during a stopped game clock. That might only be a few...

    Conference Realignment

I'll be disappointed but not surprised if the majority of the temporary windfall goes to performance incentives. This will sound like FSU and Clemson being successful in bullying the rest of the ACC, despite them apparently having no real clout near-term due to the GOR. Also, how does this...

    Haynes King starting vs. UL

Did y'all read the same article I did? The one where the author references another disparaging 247 article about transfers, but goes on to say "I would disagree with this analysis and the main reason is that I don't think King was running an offense suited to what he does best at Texas A&M and...

    Conference Realignment

Thanks for this summary. My take on what this means for current ACC teams including GT: The pro-rata payouts per new team will be Tier 1 = 70% payout =~ 24M, and x3 = 72M total. I think that each new team would normally have access to the entire additional payout pet Tier 1, but Stanford and...

Thanks for pointing this out. Seems fairly obvious now that if it were an issue we would have seen reports about it.

I was incredulous that there was such a law, so, doing my best Kelly Quinlan here, “I was just curious” and did some googling. The law was passed in 2016. They are still adding states to the travel prohibition list. Georgia was just added last August, implying that the law is still actively...

    Conference Realignment

Y You raise some interesting points. Will too much consolidation shrink the pie? I don’t know the answer, but it seems logical that in-person game attendance, and fan interest, will be adversely affected by the disruption of rivalries. There is probably some optimum number of teams that...

    Tech vs. Louisville

No worries. Surprised you even have time to post! I wouldn't have responded earlier, but I remembered watching that game and it was a good one. Florida State's recent shenanigans with the ACC have me shaking my head, but they're my hometown team so I watch many of their games.

    Conference Realignment

A common business cycle is one where you start with a lot of competitors vying for a piece of the market. The best ones, and the best-financed ones, make it to the highest tier. Others fall by the wayside. Then, to gain further competitive advantages, consolidations (mergers and acquisitions)...

    Tech vs. Louisville

Not trying to be "that guy", but FSU did beat LSU in their second game of the season. On the road. I watched it and saw FSU dominate LSU for 58 minutes, then a boneheaded play call gave LSU a chance to win.

    Haynes King starting vs. UL

Per King in his presser today, Key’s four pillars for grading are toughness, discipline, execution, and commitment. Hard to imagine that Pyron was behind King in toughness or commitment, so it must have been one of the other areas that he thought King was superior.

Man, I sure hope the rest of the ACC doesn't cave in to the bullies just to get a unanimous vote. All we need is one of the NC schools to flip according to previous reports.

    2023 Opponent injuries to date.

I browsed the Covers site just out of curiosity. The amount of data may depend on how forthcoming schools are, but my goodness - Florida! They could almost field an entire offense with their injured players!
