JT's Fumble late in 4th Qtr vs. UGA

What constitutes sufficient forward movement will be a judgement call on the official's part. They would probably attempt to clarify the rule in case it was challenged/considered an error.

JT's Fumble late in 4th Qtr vs. UGA

"Pass it forward" is defined based on the rules in the rulebook. Not based on intent. If they started making rules based on interpretation of intent, things could get really messy, really fast. Remember, the Corey Dennis ejection? It wasn't his intent to lead with his helmet. He still got ejected.

I know and you know what a pump fake is. But if the rulebook doesn't define it, it doesn't exist. Sorry. Frankly, it's not needed. Like I said, a ball is either passed forward, passed backward or not passed. Also part (c) in bold above, pointedly talks about fumbles. The pump fake is a...

JT's Fumble late in 4th Qtr vs. UGA

Based on the rules, a forward pass is defined based on where the ball first strikes the ground, player or official. It is not defined based on intent. BTW, the rulebook doesn't even define a pump fake. You know why? Because it is irrelevant. The ball is either passed forward, backward or it is...

JT's Fumble late in 4th Qtr vs. UGA

See page FR-35, Section 19 of the NCAA Football Handbook: ARTICLE 2. a. A pass is forward if the ball first strikes the ground, a player, an official or anything else beyond the spot where the ball is released. All other passes are backward passes. When in question a pass thrown in or behind...

FWIW, the booth officials were also SEC. Also, the ACC head of officials said that if it remotely resembles a pass, it should be called an incompletion.

    Robert Smith - Clemson

H Who is talking about suing? So let me get this. You're saying if the military comes up with a technology that reduces risk of injury/death, you'd rather not see it deployed? Because that's the more appropriate analogy. How about this? Be responsible for your own choices? Don't enjoy...

Let's not have a ghost town after a win, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease....

Because you are using his performance against our O as the sole metric for measuring his competence. This is a similar argument to people who used our O's performance against VT in years previous to conclude that our O is ineffective.

Let's not have a ghost town after a win, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease....

I hope you realize that you're using the same line of reasoning that people use to discredit our O - "The O can't put up points against top D's, so it sucks".

Let's not have a ghost town after a win, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease....

A lot of good things. But the improvement in D is what I'm excited about by far. UVa O gave us plenty of help, but it was still clear that we made improvements as a D. If we build on this and continue to improve, I'll be very happy. Also, shout out to CPJ for having the D staff change up the D...

Watch the play around 11:20 of the 4th Quarter of the Pitt game. PJ blows his gasket at DJ White for playing soft on 3rd down.

I've also rewatched all the games. While it's true that they play with a lot of effort, our undersized DL gets manhandled at the point of attack. Shawn Green and to a lesser extent, Adam Gotsis are the only ones holding their own. Freeman is a good athlete, but needs another year before we can...

I don't see any a priori assertion by Youngjacket in the thread that you're referring to. If Youngjacket did indeed make that assertion before the game, he is excluded from the subset of fans that I was referring to.
