Haha. You mean apologize to you, right? Not "fans", but just you. I'm not apologizing to you. I didn't call you out by name. So it was your prerogative to take it personally and you exercised that prerogative.
So proud of DJ for that play! It's hard to not give up on a play like that. But fighting to the end is what competition is about and he showed what a great competitor he is. Proud of him!
Classic response. This is the GT fanbase in a nutshell:
Twist facts to support whatever argument they want to make. If we hadn't put up point and/or had lost the game, people would be saying how the O can't move the ball against good defenses. Since we won the game, now people will point to who...
Btw something that is getting lost is that Pitt is a top 10 D. Let that sink in for a moment - top 10. So everybody who says our O can't score against good D's, please take note
You're right. Seems like I misinterpreted Longesdays post to mean that no school has been successful changing head coaches. Turns out on finer parsing, that he was probably referring just to GT.
A case can certainly be made that there is no evidence that changing head coaches every 6-7 years...
I'm in agreement that the challenges at GT are unique. I was refuting the argument that changing coaches has not resulted in improvement at any school.
Not true. See Duke for example or if that's not enough of a trend, see Baylor. For that matter, see Alabama. What hasn't changed is those school's recruiting rankings. The right HC can change a lot. I'm not saying CPJ isn't the right HC. But I refuse to have blind allegiance to a coach. My...
Agreed. I'm not for superficial analysis either. But let me ask you a different question.
What period of time, if any, is considered reasonable before you judge the track record of the HC and consider that as a trend?
Completely speculative post. Please ignore if that's not your thing.
I think the real problem with our D is PJ. I think he is a proponent of the "bend but don't break" D. As a result he sets that as the over arching theme for D. I remember a play towards the end of the game, a couple of games...
I only need one thing from CPJ by year end:
Show progress on D. Show that we'll make teams earn their yards and points. In the entire CPJ tenure, we've never been able to field a competent defense. We've been through 3 D coordinators. I refuse to believe that all of them were bad fits. The one...
Like PJ commented, Duke just plays smart defense. They don't have amazing personnel, but they play mistake-free and make the other team earn their yards and points.
I never thought I'd say this - but I wish GT played defense like Duke!!!!! That's certainly something we can do with out personnel.
I'll reserve judgement until the end of the season about that. Every year we have one of these games and it's maddening. I hope we didn't come out flat, because that's the one thing that's inexcusable. It's on the coaches to make sure the kids are motivated. If they are not able to consistently...
No QB controversy in my mind. Everyone has an off day. JT had one today. He'll learn from it. He is still inexperienced. The key thing is to manage your off days - that only comes from experience. When you are not having your best game, you need to take minimal risks etc.
Don't disagree. But remember, that confirmation bias cuts both ways. If one has a belief that people are more likely to be predisposed towards a certain player because of star rating, they are likely to take even a legitimate critique as being informed by that world view.
Again, I don't...
This is also my worry. Well, one of my worries. I hope our players and coaches maintain their emotional equilibrium and don't let this rant affect their decisions. Controlled emotion is good, but losing control is not.
