  1. GT COACHING HISTORY

The story in the ajc at the time, per my memory, was that Curry was hired, Spurrier asked for the OC job, and Curry said "I will let you know". Next day Spurrier was gone. The report was that Spurrier said "I will not let Bill Curry determine my future." "And now you know the rest of the...
  2. Football Q&A thread

Nice article in the ajc on Errin Joe http://georgiatech.blog.ajc.com/2014/02/28/errin-joe-on-the-mend/
  3. GT COACHING HISTORY

Gailey's record as a recruiter was rankings of 18, 62, 62, 79, 50 & 63 per Rivals. Except for one class, a worse recruiter than Johnson. As Dodd was leaving as head coach GT went through a period where losing was the name of the game. That reputation as a losing program is still there today...
  4. Smoke Screen On Statistics

From 1904 (Heisman) through 2013 (Johnson) GT has won 59% of it's football games. Since 1970 GT has won 53% of it's games. That is not much of a drop off. But it is a drop off. Heisman won at 78% and Dodd at 71%. O'Leary, Gailey and Johnson have won at a combined 59%. Their 6 predecessors...
  5. Top three GT games you have been to?

OJF - I trust over the years you have been able to readjust your interests in life. Of the games I personally attended, the 1961 Alabama game. Every win after that was secondary.
  6. GT .vs. Clemson

Re next years team. With Heyward & Jorgenson at PG, Bolden & Jackson maybe to help and share the 2 & 3 spots with Georges-Hunt and Poole we will be in a world of hurt in the back court unless someone steps up. Six guys to play 3 positions. That leaves Carter, Sampson, Stephens and Lammers to man...
  7. Spring Position Battle - SDE

Actually I wrote "no depth at SDE except the incoming FR".
  8. PG Problems

Heyward should be in his 2nd season after playing a backup role last season. Jorgenson should be playing that back up role this season. And both should be backing up Poole. Having Golden come in was a bonus that turned into a necessity. Injuries are season killers. I have no idea what...
  9. Spring Position Battle - SDE

Moving Gamble to DT leaves no depth at SDE except the incoming FR. Not sure this will work out. But I am not the coach.
  10. Spring Position Battle - WDE

So we wait and see. OK.
  11. UGA receives one vote in latest coaches poll...

You know, one of the great mysteries is why Fox gave Daniel Miller his release from UGA. If Miller was the C at UGA today, they would be a real force in the SEC.
  12. Alvin Kamara transfer... (@A_kamara6)

No, no, no! It was 50 years ago when everyone was smart and acted responsibility...naw, darn it , that's wrong too.
  13. Introduce yourself

If you hate Duke, the sparks should be flying Tuesday.
  14. GT .vs. BC @ 5:00pm today

I agree on Heyward. When he dumps the ball inside and it comes back out to him he needs to pull the trigger. He simply cannot be any worse than the guys we have shooting from outside.
  15. GT .vs. BC @ 5:00pm today

Holsey 15 pts, Miller 18 pts & Carter 10 pts and who were a combined 17 for 25 from the field. Real strong offensive play from the 3 big guys down low. Welcome back Carter. Miller is acting like he wants to play in the US instead of Europe. Add Georges-Hunt with 15 pts. And lets give...
  16. Fridge

    Way to go Ralph! http://www.nj.com/rutgersfootball/index.ssf/2014/02/rutgers_offensive_coordinator_ralph_friedgen_among_the_big_tens_highest_paid_assistants.html...
  17. 2014 Baseball opens season

Nice article in the ajc. Free today at least. http://www.myajc.com/news/sports/georgia-tech-counting-on-freshmen/ndNXq/?icmp=ajc_internallink_invitationbox_apr2013_ajcstubtomyajcpremium Sounds like may be a tough seaon. Lost a lot of key players this summer.
  18. GT .vs. BC @ 5:00pm today

Maybe the real winner today was CBG with Mike Gminski saying over and over how much Miller had improved in the last 3 years. If you need to recruit big men for your program that is a pretty good testament.
