I seem to remember that Drummond couldn't keep weight on once he was clean. He also lost a good bit of explosiveness. His physique was not a product of hard work and muscle milk. DD probably isn't a good comparison to anyone.
I know it's a team game etc etc, but Shaq Mason might have been the guy most individually responsible for our success than anyone else on the team in 2014.
Even if we win 20 games next year, he hasn't done anything to get the program ready for the 2016-2017 season. When you rely so heavily on transfers, you are really just covering your recruiting deficiencies with a band-aid and creating a lot of pressure to deliver home runs later.
This has really turned into a toxic situation for Gregory. He will go into next season with thoughts of how we blew every close game this year and also how, conservatively, 50% of fans wanted him fired as well as his boss. Talk about a bad situation to try and perform in... I would love to...
I think there are different motivations out there. Some want to compete against the best, and some might want to fight the path of least resistance. In the long run, I think I would rather get behind a coach that isn't afraid of the competition.
Obviously CBG wanted to keep his best guys out there in such a tight game. Can't blame him for keeping the deep subs on the bench until the outcome was no longer in doubt. /sarcasm
You can't just let him play out his last contract year. If he were to go into next year without extending his contract one more year, we might not land a single recruit. If CBG doesn't have some semblance of job security, recruits aren't going to sign up for an uncertain future either. To...
At this point, recruits have noticed that CBG's time in Atlanta is probably limited. They knew CPH was done and stopped signing up to play for him. To keep Gregory could hurt us a lot more than 1 more season of bad basketball. Keeping him very well could hurt us for years if he continues to...
We've got too many scholarships opening up next year to keep him. I don't want to handicap the next guy by letting CBG recruit the core of his team. It would only set us back even further.
