I don't know if Williams is the best example. On the spectrum of coaches, I'd say he leans toward strong recruiter and weak X's and O's guy.
My biggest worry is Pastner's last few years at Memphis may have soured his ability to hit home runs on the recruiting trail. Time will tell.

Send JP to work as an assistant for a Hall of Fame coach for 5 years and I think people would be more accepting. This is one of the key differences between the two guys.
A lot of people cite his recruiting as a positive. Signing guys up isn't what I'm worried about. It's the ability to keep guys on the team. His roster churn the last couple years has to put him around the top for number of players transferring out.
I'm not advocating for Kelsey, but why would we prefer McCall over him? They're both pretty green to me.
Looking closer, I do see that McCall won @uga, @Illinois, and beat Dayton. Not bad.
