Glad you brought them up. Larry Good way more than lived up to his last name and Mike Kelley was competitive as one of the best pure passers I can recall at Tech.
Comparing the two is like comparing apples and oranges except that Nesbitt and Lothridge were both outstanding warriors. They both simply did not like losing and refused to do so. Therein lied each one's greatest strength.
Lothridge, as Dodd said, gave Tech two extra scholarships to award...
I watched both of them. Nesbitt vs. Lothridge has to be considered in the context of the times, coaches, and game rules. One on one today, it would be lopsided in favor of Nesbitt. But you can say that about just about any player from the 1960s compared to today's players.
I'll always remember that game because the long run by Bussell. My preacher attended with me; he was a big UGA fan and was hoping for a big win for the dwags. The Bussell run really got to him. Sad...not!
Looking at the last 3 years, let me just just quote some words of wisdom by a very experienced head football coach:
