The "lifejacket" was made simply by tying each leg in a knot below the knee and swinging it over your head to trap air so you could float on it by inserting your upper body between the legs.

I had a roommate at Tech who was from New York. I had visited NY the year before and went up the Empire State building and Statue of Liberty, but he had done neither. Said they were only for tourists. :)

As if anyone needed convincing, an excellent place kicker is well worth a strong recruiting effort and scholarship. Kickoffs deep in the end zone negates a lot of ST weakness and an accurate, strong leg can put lots of points on the board in a season.

Wish we could have that duo back again. Dy-no-mite!!
