    Morgan Bailey officially not returning

Yeah but the point was, he had already graduated. I don't think he wanted a graduate degree but he was thinking he might like to play football some more. At GT, he (and the coaches) didn't think he'd start, so he decided to transfer somewhere else. You guys know that I am not the biggest CPJ...

Why not have a Dawgnight Equivalent ??

My travel baseball team that I coach played his 3 years ago. At 14, the kid was already about 6'6" and close to 300 pounds. His coach told me "Yeah, Mark Richt offered him in the 8th grade when he came to UGA for a visit." (By the way, he sucked at baseball. We struck him out 3 times in 3...

    Update on Myles Autry

Myles is still waiting on the official results of a summer class he took to make it into the registrar's office. He did what needs to do and there's nothing to worry about...he just can't report until his acceptance is official. And that won't happen until they receive the official scores from...

    Morgan Bailey officially not returning

CPJ told a couple of us one time that "some people need to learn the difference between playing hurt and playing hurting" and he mentioned that in response to a question about how Morgan gets hurt so often. The coaches would have loved for him to play because one of our defensive coaches told...

    The three plagues of pessimism

I hope you're right. But: 1) I'm not sure where the pass rush is going to come from, other than Gotsis. 2) Yeah, I agree Lee wasn't going to keep it up the entire game. Once he threw an interception in the second half, CPJ wouldn't let him throw anymore. We threw 6 passes in the second...

    The three plagues of pessimism

    1. We didn't just lose Attouchu and Jemea on defense. Here were our leading tacklers last year: 1. Jemea Thomas 73 solo 15 assist 88 total 2. Quayshawn Nealey 44 solo 22 assist 66 total 3. Brandon Watts 42 solo 24 assist 66 total...

    JT 2013 Read Videos

I think you're reading too much into it. I could be wrong but I think the reason that he extends the ball so far is that his footwork on the snap prior to the mesh isn't correct and he didn't get far enough out away from the center.

    Myerberg Tech Preview: 55th

Here's what I said: Do you really think that's attacking someone? I said if he implemented the policy of checking on students' attendance daily, then it would have potentially kept JHD on the team. I understand and agree with you 100% that it's JHD's fault. But I also think (as I stated in...

    Myerberg Tech Preview: 55th

Yeah, I know...I was just typing from my iPad and didn't want to have to retype all that crap to go back & look to see who had typed it. No offense meant.

    Myerberg Tech Preview: 55th

How are you determining that he's getting roughly the same results? We've already established that the '08 and '09 teams were heavily laden with NFL talent. In those 2 years, we 8-4 and 11-3. Since that talent has left the Flats, our records are 6-7, 8-5, 7-7, and 7-6. Are you really calling...

or d) Coach Johnson and/or his system cannot recruit at the level as previous coaches. Look, I'm not a football coach, but I've coached over 1000 baseball games. AAMOF, I just walked off the field from coaching my last game of the summer with a bunch of kids who will all play college...

    Passing in 2014

Excellent post. To answer your question though...he had an OL that was much better than ours and his receivers were overall better than ours. It also didn't hurt to have Tre Mason in the backfield with him. And I DO realize your question was rhetorical, since you obviously know this stuff...

    Passing in 2014

Not true on pass plays. The entire reasoning behind why the Dallas Cowboys first implemented the shotgun was to move the QB farther away from the line and afford him an extra second of time. If you'll notice on the pass play linked above where JT throws the interception against Miami, he takes...

    Myerberg Tech Preview: 55th

Oh I think O'Leary had some weaknesses in the way he handled academics as well and I acknowledge that some (I would disagree with the many part, but that's probably splitting hairs) of those players wouldn't be on the GT campus today. I was merely pointing out that one of O'Leary's policies was...

    Myerberg Tech Preview: 55th

Where did I say that was a sign of success? I think that anything outside the top 25 is very average. HOWEVER, looking at the numbers, that "very average" ranking is something that has eluded us for 4 consecutive years and we would have to exceed the preseason rankings by 15 places just to get...

    Myerberg Tech Preview: 55th

I don't think any of us are expecting top 10. But I honestly don't think top 25 is out of the question for most years though. And if not top 25, at LEAST be mentioned in the "others receiving votes" section, which usually translates to about the top 40. Looking back to 2002 (and I only picked...

    Myerberg Tech Preview: 55th

I appreciate you taking the time to put together an explanation. But I'm not taking issue with the ranking. I'm just shaking my head that we have reached the point in the program where we're ranked in the middle of all D-1 teams. It's pretty sad to me.

Refresh a old Tech Man Mind !

Actually, the worst offense under CPJ that I can remember was when Attouchu hit Logan Thomas late in the Virginia Tech game a few years ago. I honestly believe that 1 penalty changed the tenor and pace of the game in their favor by extending that drive.
