  1. JG to start?

Graham and TO are both allusive but TO also breaks tackles, a lot of them. If he becomes a receiver he needs the ball a lot in short passes (screens and drags maybe) where he can have chances to break big plays. Sanders, Brown, and Carter are better suited for the long throws.
  2. Scholarship Slots remaining

Those are generally moved to med ships and do not count against the 85 limit.
  3. Temple Post Game

Its not just the losses that is so hard to take, it is the extremely poor play. It is embarrassing how ill prepared and how poorly we have performed with exceptions of the D which has certainly been an upgrade but still needs help stopping the run.
  4. Redshirting and Team Morale

Yes. Three OL fall into that category. All three are struggling with injuries and it makes sense for them to consider taking their red shirt, depending on their school situation.
  5. Temple Post Game

Agreed about the wins but were were competitive and had hope and looked like we were coached and prepared to play even in losing. The last two weeks we played like an opening game without the benefit of Fall practice.
  6. The last two postgame PC

IMO the offensive "rebuild" is as tough as you want to make it. You can throw everything out and start with all new highly complicated "NFL"stuff or slowly transition to "NFL" stuff by going to gun and do a lot of things we are capable of (a la Fritz) in the short term. It seems we have chosen...
  7. Offensive Gameplan

Agree. Leading up to 3rd down we have too many early down plays for losses or no gain. We have erratic plays for success but no continuity for moving the chains or scoring...play calling and blocking issues? Play calling should be logically planned to move the chains and score (4 downs) in the...
  8. Offensive Gameplan

Maybe that is the answer. We did all those things, mostly poorly or inconsistently. Maybe we should be focusing on doing a few of them well (quicker short passes, Oliver options, rollouts instead of pass pro, 2 back formations with one fast back (Donte, Griffin, Oliver) and one x BB. If Oliver...
  9. Bright spots...

Probably. When we got down 3 scores and could not stop the run Temple went to the run the clock out running the ball and we could not stop it. If the game was closer Temple would have opened up more and scored more. IMO our inability to stop the run would have beat us regardless of those...
  10. Temple Post Game

Tend to agree but I still like Oliver in the red zone as he gives us a better chance to score with out so so blocking.
  11. Bright spots...

Disagree about the D playing well. Not being able to stop the run let Temple control the game, field position, and time of possession which limited our opportunities. Obviously not being able to stop the run against the Citadel was not a fluke as we let Temple have way too many 6+ yard runs. We...
  12. Rotating QBs good or bad ?

I read somewhere today that Lucas is in a sling. I watched the game again and saw early in the third Q on a run by Lucas that he hurt his shoulder being tackled and came out of the game holding his right shoulder. He was then seen leaving the field for the locker room. A little later the...

  14. The offensive problems and bright spots

Getting rid of one of our often used plays would go a long way in improving our offense. That is the one where we hike it back 7 yards, stare ahead for 2 to 3 seconds, then dart left or right for 2 yards, make 3 jukes, and get put down by an arm tackle for a loss. This play is killing any chance...
  15. Old Techsters

Got out in 67 just before Carson. Had some great years with Dodd (Lothridge, K King, L Snow, Martin, Davis , Guthrie,,etc). Daughter was a soph when we won the NC. Saw Joe Willy play. School was tough with 6 days a week, Saturday 8 AM classes, mandatory ROTC (no credit) and 6 classes of PE...
  16. The Citadel Postgame

I really like Thacker and what he is doing with the defense. However, at his press conf concerning the upcoming game against the Citadel he was cocky, even arrogant sounding about his roots in conferences with the to3 and how he knew all about that scheme. Well his plan did not look like what...
  17. The Citadel Postgame

The fault lies more with the fact that we were in a first down situation with the clock running and needing to simply line up quick and spike the ball. Instead we committed a silly infraction to let the other team chose to run time off the clock. Since we did not stop the clock with a spike...
  18. "...Set the Clock to 13 Seconds and RESTART AT READY FOR PLAY."

How about two running backs and the running QB, lots of option, under center snaps in short yardage and red zone to start. Work on some misdirection/reverses, screens, swing passes and occasional bombs to loosen up the D. Go for it on 4th down and 5 or less on the 35 or so. That would be a...
  19. O-Line Carnage

T Marshall was a 5th year senior and Oliver a RS freshman. Hardly a fair comparison for players under CPJ who valued experience and was loyal to a fault.
  20. The Citadel vs. Georgia Tech Predictions

27-17 but they score late and we look better than the score.
