  1. Wesley Wells

I noticed that also from Wells but I saw another kicker this past Saturday from a prominent team align the same way. That seems to limit your approach arc but I am no expert on place kicks. It is definitely different from the demo recently given by Butker.
  2. Virginia Postgame

I think that horrible D just before halftime cost us the game and qualifies as a step back. If you want to win games that is a performance you have to eliminate. (I concede that STs overall cost us the game as well and was a bigger step back)
  3. Playing Time for Jordan Yates

Most times inside the 5 it should be a run, especially if not 4th down. CPJ had a great red zone record. Don't you think teams expected CPJ to run? You have to have run threat side line to side line (not just in the A gap). The field to cover passes gets very small if the O is on the 5...
  4. Expectations on this year and next

Expectations should be to win the games winnable and not continue to say "we would have won except for just two plays". Right now that is on the coaches who should get better along with the team.
  5. Playing Time for Jordan Yates

As it turned out it made no real difference but the perception at the time was poor choice using Yates for only one play, not knowing what our future QB situation would be. It is no longer important.
  6. Playing Time for Jordan Yates

Nonething. That is my issue. P'Node is not taking advantage of all his talent. TB has not forgotten how to run. Look at the Clemson game.
  7. Playing Time for Jordan Yates

Have to strongly disagree. Inside the 5 yard line with just one play Tobias is the best choice because he is a threat side line to sideline, including running the option, a hand off, or a sort toss pass. I would hope to see him now at QB in the red zone where the D would have to spread out and...
  8. Virginia Postgame

Good post but disagree on drop by Carter. Ball was too far out of reach. He made a great effort just to touch it.
  9. Virginia Postgame

Disagree. The key was making the 3rd down stop. If CGC saves the time outs and they make the 3rd down the saved time outs are wasted as they can run the clock way down with 4 more downs.. If he uses the time outs and we make a third down stop we have saved enough time to do some good. I concur...
  10. Virginia Postgame

Best game by far. Except for ST (KO coverage in particular) it was approaching a "good" game. Play calling and execution to get us positive yards on first down was the really big improvement as it allowed us to make some drives. More utilization of Oliver (57 yards receiving) is a good trend...
  11. not about Minnesota

My perspective: I thought CPJ was way ahead of most other coaches on game day. He had 4 down mentality. He understood how to win, to manage the clock, to call plays, to adjust his blocking, to maintain drives, to eat up the clock and shorten the game, and maybe most importantly how to score in...
  12. Playing Time for Jordan Yates

Agree. The two pointer could have come later in the event we get another score. At this juncture with the QB hurt it should be a kick,
  13. Playing Time for Jordan Yates

Have to disagree. With our blocking (and it will not get better anytime soon) LJ makes a quick decision to vacate the pocket and he is not quick enough or elusive enough or powerful enough to avoid sacks. His timing on this team (with our pass blocking) is just unfortunate. Our best chance to...
  14. CGC's Pitt Postgame Press Conference

Stacking the box does not necessarily stop Tobias. He can run inside, off tackle, wide , pas or pitch on the option...especially if you give him 3 chances from the 4 yard line. That option was available and goes to coaching not getting the playmakers in the game and the ball in the playmakers...
  15. Jamious Griffin not on field against Pitt

We did not get in enough successful running plays to play a #2 much less #3. The Pitt D in conjunction with our lack of run blocking influenced P'Node to use our downs to get in a lot of incompletions.
  16. Pitt Postgame

Then he probably went to sigh the turnover thing they have.
  17. Pitt Postgame

His momentum carried him out of bounds.
  18. Pitt Postgame

2 for 13 third down conversions is really bad but most of that problem comes from pathetic execution on first down. We are forever in 2nd and 9 to 15 as a result of a flop on first down. Then our OC calls the predictable one yard gain up the middle on second down and we get in the usual third...
