Why we had a 7-6 record

No, cheese opined that we would be better in 2013 with TW at QB. I simply asked which games he would have made a difference.

Why we had a 7-6 record

Come on cheese! You tell me what games Tevin wins in 2013 if he is the starting QB. VT - nope. Tevin lost to them for two years. He lost last season when our D held them to 17 points. Miami - nope. We got beat soundly even with Miami's 5 turnovers. BYU - nope. Russel Wilson couldn't have...

Why we had a 7-6 record

I disagree that the class was overall a good recruiting class. I agree we recruited some good players that didn't pan out - but that happens to every team and is not something special to GT. I do agree that if we sign 25 in that class it wouldn't have been ranked in 40's. But the reason...

Why we had a 7-6 record

No one is saying that they have to leave school, only that they have to pay for it themselves. But yes, they would lose their scholarship if they cannot hack it on the football field. This is no different than most academic scholarships that require certain levels of academic performance.

Why we had a 7-6 record

I may be wrong, but the facts are much more in my favor than yours. We may have had more stars than normal, but that class was still ranked in the 40's by both services. Granted there were only 18 signed in that class and that certainly is part of the reason for the low ranking. Some panned...

Why we had a 7-6 record

I think what I wouldn't be opposed to is telling a recruit, "we will give you a four year scholarship and redshirt you if we feel you need development, but getting the scholarship in year five is totally dependent on your worth to our team". I don't think we lose too many recruits with that...

Why we had a 7-6 record

I want us to succeed as well. And I am really not sure how I feel about oversigning and cutting players. But let's have an honest discussion about it. Remember when you were a freshman at Tech and they told you to look to your right and then your left because one of the three of you won't...

Why we had a 7-6 record

Why were we 7-6? Because our team was comprised of classes that were ranked as follows: 2009 Scout (32) Rivals (49) 2010 Scout (41) Rivals (43) 2011 Scout (46) Rivals (41) 2012 Scout (59) Rivals (57) 2013 Scout (72) Rivals (85) We can talk about attrition and a whole host of other excuses...

Why we had a 7-6 record

Not trying to start an argument with you cheese, but that does not appear what gtdrew was saying. He was saying the class was made up of difference makers that didn't pan out and that is why he doesn't believe in the rankings. He doesn't mention once anything about attrition. Secondly - most...

Why we had a 7-6 record

No gtdrew, the 2010 class was not made up of difference makers. It was the 41st ranked class according to scout and the 43rd ranked class according to rivals. The problem is that we always hype our recruiting classes and turn them into something they aren't. Case in point - Charles Perkins...

    Jemea Thomas tweet

We will just have to agree to disagree. May eyes tell me he was better than Tashard and he gained over a 1000 yards twice in Gailey's system. Dwyer would have been a 1000 yard rusher wherever he went.

    Jemea Thomas tweet

JD's struggles in the NFL are completely on JD - not CPJ. But that wasn't the point of my post. The point of my post is that Jon's success in college was also all him and NOT because cpj turned him into a great back. Again, Jon shouldn't trash cpj, but he also doesn't owe cpj any gratitude...

    Jemea Thomas tweet

I completely agree - Dwyer should have NEVER done that - even though I completely agree with his views. But the statement was made by gtdrew that implied that Dwyer should be grateful to CPJ. My response is CPJ should thank his lucky stars every night that Dwyer decided to stay. He could have...

    Jemea Thomas tweet

Dwyer did more to make cpj successful than cpj did to make Dwyer successful. We had thousand yard rushers in the three seasons prior to cpjs arrival. Talent - not some system - is the main reason players succeed.

Warning!!! Non football thread (but pertinent to the board)

Cheese you have done a great job on this board keeping your tone in check. I know you get frustrated with the non-CPJ guys like myself sometimes, but keep up the good work!

    ACC's in big trouble tonight

All kidding aside, I wouldn't have minded being Vandy this year.

    ACC!!!!!

Yeah! When Auburn scored I almost threw my remote through the TV. It was so refreshing NOT to hear the SEC, SEC chant after that game.

    ACC's in big trouble tonight

That was big for the ACC. We really needed that. I am very happy for F$U and Klimpson. Not a great overall showing in the bowls by the ACC, but those last two wins were great performances on a national stage. Our conference won't by the Rodney Dangerfield of football next season.

Interesting comments on CPJ's base offense

A big deal has been made that Vad is terrible with his reads in the option. My take is that every time we ran the option there were three DL on top of Vad two seconds after the snap. Did Vad hesitate - yes he did. Were his reads bad - yes they were. That's kinda what happens when you are...

The JUSTIN THOMAS era has started

This isn't quite a dumpster fire yet, but the molotov cocktail has been lit and thrown into the dumpster. It depends on how quickly CPJ can get the fire extinguisher to put it out as to how bad this will be.
