  1. Hire Geoff Collins

Forget the triple option. Just look at how Johnson's O was so reliable to score with a first down inside the 7. Most everybody agrees was a small and below avg Oline. QB under center. B/Back/Tail/B, F/B behind the QB in 3 point ready to blast ahead (no delay) or slightly left or right. QB hands...
  2. This is a great read covering the Advanced Stats

Inside the ten the lightning was there (Mason, Gibbs, Smith, Griffin) but Coach P kept it in the bottle.
  3. UNC Preview Thread -- Who is UNC?

M Brown explained the difference between the VT and V games thusly: There were 3 OL starters injured before the VT game and one running back. Howell was not himself (for whatever reason?). By the third game those issues with the backups and returning injured were fixed. They found another...
  4. Tony Elliott

Agree. UNC played very poorly in the opener, then fixed their problems, and scored 59 points in the next two games. I suspect Clemson will make a similar turnaround (just too much talent and proven coaching).
  5. What GT Does - Zone Running

Just a great sniff by the Clemson LB. In an interview he said he noticed the GT TE coming behind the line and that gave the play away.
  6. UNC Preview Thread -- Who is UNC?

Press conference by Thacker was not encouraging for stopping Howell with the blitz. He effectively said that Howell was savvy, would see where the pressure was coming from, and would throw quick in the right place and negate the rush. I would rush some off the edge with a speedy DB or N, but I...
  7. Jordan Yates

    Correct. Lateral. Fumble recovery.
  8. #GTvsCLEM Postgame

On this play the pitch guy started less than 3 yards outside the QB and he either delayed or miss stepped and got a really bad start and when it came time to pitch he was almost directly behind the QB, not 4 yards ahead. In addition the speedy Clemson D was forcing the QB to run full speed to...
  9. Jordan Yates

You could be right, but with a weak Oline Yates has proven he can generate offense (needs better play calling in the red zone) and Sims has yet to demonstrate he can handle the OL chaos result.
  10. Jordan Yates

Too much emphasis on the QBs. The OL at this point cannot effectively block for the pass. Yates can handle that situation much much better than Sims. With solid OL protection there might be a better argument for Sims. With the current OL performance Yates has a really big advantage over Sims.
  11. #GTvsCLEM Postgame

There were two problems with our option play. Clemson D. The pitch guy/QB relationship was poor (pitch guy was not far enough outside). Option against Clemson speed may rarely work and with that poor of a pitch guy/QB relationship it will never work.
  12. Jordan Yates

I do not disagree with you as a theory or if the team has a better OL, but we have over two years of dismal performance of spreading it out and some kind of change seems in order. You can bunch up and still run outside. CPJ was way more successful in the red zone bunched up with a relatively...
  13. Jordan Yates

Playing time is won on the practice field with competition with no distinguishing between walk-ons and scholship players, according to the coach pressers. I do not believe a lot of the coach talk but in this case I agree with them.
  14. Jordan Yates

I am disappointed that we are yet to have a "heavy" package of players for a power run to score in the red zone or even a commitment to run. We also still seem to not plan ahead for our plays or our subs as evidenced by another wasted timeout inside the 5 yard line when we could not get our...
  15. Keys to stay competitive in game vs Clemson

Shorten the game, increase the time of possession, win the turnover battle, need some big plays on STs, minimize penalties and TFLs , play physically and sub enough to stay strong to the end of the game. Priority for play calling should be to continue to get first downs, run the clock, and...
  16. PFF Season Grades to date

Agree on Thomas and Domineck and would add W Walker and Quez and probably Walton as our better performers on D.
  17. Is Walton hurt?

After the end of the game against KSU I clearly saw Walton in shorts trotting off the field with teammates. He was showing no signs of leg/mobility issues and I saw no bandages or casts. Maybe he was sick earlier or some COVID related? but certainly did not appear to be seriously injured.
  18. #KSUvsGT Postgame

Two many one and two yard gains between the tackles after running 6 yards to get back to the LOS. The TOP was not in our favor but not the reason for low numbers running the ball. There just seemed no where for Mason or Gibbs to run between the tackles.....and therefore very low yards per carry..
  19. #KSUvsGT Postgame

Only the blind can argue that. We did sub a lot but the sub plan this week was much improved, that is it did not so disrupt the game. Coaches stepped up to improve several problems from last week.
  20. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

Was in 218 right above the endzone and had a really good view. Players drifted out while the band was aligned and playing. The band near line was at the 15 stretched across the field and the players were aligned around the goal line across the field.. A Tech coach signaled for the team to line...
