What the NCAA did was flat stupid. It is one of about 500 reasons to fire Emmert tomorrow. Nell simply commented about obvious low hanging fruit. I don't blame her nor do I see her as some revolutionary for doing it. The stuff she was talking about was kind of minimum reasonable standard for...
If I am Iona I am loving this. Already took the hit for hiring him so now I get the benefit of a really good coach. Will be curious to see if he can identify and recruit the second level kids who can do well there or if he simply hands the keys to the haram to the assistant coach and sees...
They did do away with the last 10 metric but they also speak to the eyeball test - partly as a way to give them cover to move teams around - but I was hoping that the eyeball test for our play toward the end of the year would move us to that 7 slot. However, given that they were down seeding...
The NBA has established 2 way contracts to cover guys going up and down. Second round guys likely fit those agreements. Don't remember the exact numbers but the minimum is a lot higher than 35
One other upside for Moses is he can guard the perimeter so he isn't an absolute liability on the pick and roll. And to be fair no one is going to call plays for him at the next level - especially any kind of iso play. The development play is for him to be a rim runner developing into a player...
Loyola needs to quit hedging the ball screen so hard. IL is finally figuring out to just dump the ball to the rim with the hedge. Took them way too long to figure that out
If Loyola gets past IL, I will gladly cheer for them. Great D scheme and some of the stuff they run on O is really good. I really liked the little circle play they came out of the TO with. IL is not playing smart but a lot of the credit goes to Loyola.
The NCAA has changed the rules to allow players a one time exemption for declaring for the draft, going through the combine and getting feedback from the NBA but still be able to renounce their draft availability and retain NCAA eligibility. Don't know the dates but there is a set schedule for...
As a JR I would tell Mike to declare for the draft and go through the evaluation process. Like you I would be surprised if he gets a message he should go. But with the ability to go through the process and back out he should declare for the draft.
One other minor nit, there are a lot of rim...
Unless you think Khalid is going to do a materially better defensive job on him ....
The offensive rational is kind of clear. Though I would be the first to say this isn't a 40 min play.
If you go small, I don't think you put Khalid out there. We are looking for driving lanes and they will back off of him just like FSU did. His defender will be sitting in the paint. I think you go Bubba, Kyle, Jose, Devoe and Usher. Yep this lineup is really small and will have to dig/hustle...
This isn't a logical/rational year. It is a combination of a real talent team deficiency for the ACC combined with weird rankings given the lack of interconference play - across the board.
Haven't read all the rest of the thread - but if you are going to run PNR with Devoe and Moses as your primary offense, we likely will need to sit Moore a lot this game. Otherwise the corner defender will have free reign to sag the middle and clog things. FSU was giving him engraved...
After a real high last night, this was a bucket of cold water. I was thinking 7 but no thought of a 9. From the recent projections we moved up one slot by winning the tourney. Love that we won but today wish we were still a 10.
