Jared Ivey has entered the transfer portal

It’s not good to lose a good football player. Ivey is a good football player. We may be able to replace his production with someone else but I’d sure rather have his talent in a GT uniform next season. I will say, however, that if you (generic ”you”) didn’t expect some attrition of some good...

    Locker room issues?

It was an issue in year 3 for Bobby Ross. They overcame it by not playing a bunch of the guys who were causing the problems. They knew who they were in year 1 and 2. They just didn’t have anybody else to replace them with until year 3. Maybe CGC should have done the same.

    Locker room issues?

Good assessment. It’s totally likely his tone-deafness made a normal situation worse.

Transfer Portal: Who's Coming and Going (2022 Roster)

Ahmari Harvey - class of 2021, did not get into any games at Auburn, candidate for redshirt and would have 4 years to play Khari Gee - class of 2021, candidate for redshirt, has 4 years to play Makius Scott - class of 2020, did not play his true frosh year, candidate for redshirt and would have...

    Locker room issues?

Sometimes it is nobody’s fault. The exact same thing happened to Bobby Ross. He was a very different kind of coach from Bill Curry. Both are good men. Some of Bill Curry’s players didn’t like playing for Bobby Ross. There was discord in the locker room. Things didn’t turn around until Ross...

    Getting Specific about Improvement

I mentioned to my buddy during that game that I hoped it wasn’t the 2021 version of the 1988 USC game. Unfortunately it was. Let’s hope that the results from 1989 year after that are similar to what we experience in 2022.

Adonicas Sanders has entered the transfer portal

For sure I'll wish this young man the best of luck and root for him (as long as he goes to a team we don't play and then I'll root for him except when we play them).

Transfer Portal: Who's Coming and Going (2022 Roster)

Why? Apparently he enjoys playing football for his Dad and his Dad enjoys having him on his football team. Why shouldn’t they take advantage of the short time they have left to continue their current relationship? I’ve been involved with youth sports for the last 18 years. One thing I have...

Transfer Portal: Who's Coming and Going (2022 Roster)

That’s completely fair. I happen to be interested to see how he does there. But I’m not down on our RB room at all. I’ve been a Dontae Smith fan from the first time I saw him on the field. The kid Is special. And I am thrilled to have Jamious back. And getting back to the subject of this...

Transfer Portal: Who's Coming and Going (2022 Roster)

Totally agree with you!!! If someone can't see that Gibbs is a special talent then I don't even know what to say. I sense more sour grapes as the reason some are putting down his chances of excelling at Bama.

Transfer Portal: Who's Coming and Going (2022 Roster)

I think you’re right about expectations for the incoming OL. My personal expectation for them is that they can provide some solid depth for us. By themselves they absolutely do not make up for the loss of Gibbs. But having some added depth for the OL, which we’ve shown is something we...

Transfer Portal: Who's Coming and Going (2022 Roster)

While it hurts to lose Gibbs and I wish he had stayed because he’s a difference maker, how many wins did we have with him? My point is NOT that he didn’t make us better. Heck, maybe without him we would have won even fewer games. My point is that simply saying that Gibbs was so good that the...

Transfer Portal: Who's Coming and Going (2022 Roster)

I always had the impression he wasn’t really interested in actually going to GT. Maybe I’m wrong but it certainly felt that way his HS recruitment. And I don’t mean that as a criticism of him or our staff. Just that he seemed like GT wasn’t in his plans.

🔥🔥🔥 Good Take on our Current Challenges

I honestly don't know what role, if any, Collins played in the actual running of the defense last year. I know he says he was "involved in all aspects of the team" but who knows how much he really did. I would prefer him to be making the defensive calls than Thacker because I know how bad we...

🔥🔥🔥 Good Take on our Current Challenges

I agree 100% that at the very least we should have seen our teams playing disciplined football from the start. It doesn’t take talent to do that. I do think they play hard to the end though the last couple of games may not have been good examples of that. As for Collins abilities as a head...

Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

I am absolutely gobsmacked to hear that Thacker could possibly be the guy to fix our defense. With this news my expectation is that our defense will be exactly as bad, if not worse, than last year’s and we will see the same issues of poor communication, plays coming in late, always giving up...

Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

Collins could have bought himself 2 years if he’d fired Thacker along with the others. Keeping Thacker may be the hill Collins is going to die on. When Collins was hired I was optimistic because I felt his recruiting energy would help us reconnect to the recruits and to the people that advise...

Griffin is NOT now in the portal

That is a very fair question. I try to approach it the same way whether a kid is transferring in or out. If I was on the receiving end of the Griffin transfer I’d be very happy to find out what he could do in my program especially because I’d be looking at the fact that the three guys ahead of...

OUCH - Championship game ratings are out

I’m actually just a little surprised the AAC game didn’t do better. There was a lot riding on that game for the playoffs with potentially the first ever G5 team punching their ticket or several other teams just waiting in the wings if Cincy lost.
