  1. HC Candidate/Rumors/Info Thread

The problem for him in negotiations will be that he probably won't be considered for any other open HC positions. If we offer him a lower contract with performance incentives, he can either take that or be an OL coach somewhere else next year. I suppose he could gain leverage though if we whiff...
  2. HC Candidate/Rumors/Info Thread

There would be no reason to give Key a big guaranteed contract. He has no leverage to negotiate for one.
  3. The New Pandemic: Roughing The Passer

The call in our game was questionable. The call in the Raiders game was very questionable. The call in the Falcons game was one of the worst calls I have ever seen.
  4. PFF Week 6 Grades

Up until about 9 minutes left in the 4th quarter, Hall was averaging 3.2 yards per rush (45 total). He didn't really have a hot hand and it didn't make much sense why we wouldn't give our normal starter more reps. Even McDuffie got more than Smith.
  5. HC Candidate/Rumors/Info Thread

On the flip side of this. He may not want any of those options.
  6. HC Candidate/Rumors/Info Thread

The biggest difference in the two, I think, is that Key really has to be extraordinary for the rest of the year and even that might not be enough. Leonhard was basically groomed for this. He was always going to be the head coach at Wisconsin, it was just a matter of when. If he weren't there...
  7. PFF Week 6 Grades

It seems pretty obvious that Dontae is in the dog house for something.
  8. HC Candidate/Rumors/Info Thread

I think Leonhard already has the job at Wisconsin unless he completely crumbles as the interim coach.
  9. HC Candidate/Rumors/Info Thread

At this point, my two main options would be Chadwell and O'Brien. I don't think Mullen or Rhule would ever come here. Deion would be amazing but until there is some real indication of that being possible, its hard to take it seriously. If I were AD, I would put the full court press on Chadwell.
  10. HC Candidate/Rumors/Info Thread

If Matt Rhule wants to come back to the college game then he will have his pick of several jobs.
  11. Week 6 #DUKEvsGT Predictions

Duke doesn't turn the ball over. We will need to be disciplined this game to pull it out. I voted that we lose a close one because I think Dukes offense is a good bit better, but I think we could just as easily win a close one as well if our defense really steps up again. It won't be a blowout...
  12. What makes a QB a P5 QB?

I love the snobbery of calling something P5 quality. Reminds me of SEC fans who always use "SEC defense" like it's an actual thing.
  13. What makes a QB a P5 QB?

He only participated in a few practices during the spring before leaving for personal reasons. He was a QB and was competing with Justin Tomlin for the starting job. After he left that competition pretty much ended. He was moved to WR because he is too talented to keep on the bench.
  14. HC Candidate/Rumors/Info Thread

Mendenhall feels like a better fit at Colorado.
  15. Coach Brent Key Scenario

Miami will depend on how much they work through their issues. I wish we were playing them now. UNC will depend on whether their QB comes back down to earth. We can’t outshoot them the way he is playing. But yeah, aside from UGA we can win or lose every game we have left.
  16. HC Candidate/Rumors/Info Thread

Hard to tell if he wants to be a head coach again right now. He seems pretty happy getting paid a ton of money by Texas not to coach. If he wants back in though then others will be after him. He would be a tough get. If we could get him though, it would be a pretty strong hire.
  17. What makes a QB a P5 QB?

Not exactly true. He was a QB there at the start of the spring and was supposed to compete for the job but then had to leave for personal reasons. Sometime during the summer he was moved to WR and then left the team before the season started. I think he had off the field issues that we will...
  18. Coach Brent Key Scenario

Let's say we beat Duke, UVA, and VT and lose to FSU in the middle. We finish the season with three losses losing to UNC, Miami, and we get blown out by UGA. This is actually a pretty realistic scenario. Do you keep Key?
  19. “Competing” open Head Coaching jobs

Nebraska, yes. They have more money, a much bigger fan base, and play in the richest conference. Arizona St is closer. They pay a bit more, have had a decent team in recent years, and have a bit better attendance. On the flip side, we should always have a recruiting edge over them. If our...
  20. God we needed that. (POSTGAME THREAD GT 26 - PITT 21)

Miami is dealing with a similar situation as Van Dyke has been struggling this year. They benched him during the MTSU game. They have named him the starter for next week but one would imagine he is on a pretty short leash. I'm not sure why our QB can never come out of the game no matter how bad...
