True enough, but that was followed by two more losing seasons including 1992 when the Hokies only won 2 games. Frank turned it around the next year and did not look back.
Vegas does not have to pay his buyout. He is not going anywhere, any time soon. As for the others, well, I mean damn Manny you have FSU on the ropes and just gift them the game with a 3 man rush after repeatedly getting pressure on Travis all game long. That might be the end of him. As for...
I don't know. Coach Collins is ranked (FWIW) #7 on that "Coaches Hot Seat" site but the guys ahead of him like Mullens and Manny are at programs with a history of quick triggers on firing coaches. Geoff will be here at least two more years. IIWII.
You are correct I am not buying it because I do not give a tinker's damn about what Vegas guys think. I do not believe we are as close to turning this thing around as some seem to think. It will take more work, much more attention to detail, and better recruiting of linemen to begin to make a...
Beamer is the most likely one for Geoff to emulate. Tone down the antics, demand more accountability from assistants and players, pay attention to the little things like game management, kicking, penalties, special teams, etc. Those were things that Beamer changed as well as recruiting in...
Well, in that team's case the stone did get rolled up the hill. The primary problem in 1960 was quarterback. Billy Lothridge solved that problem because beginning in 1961, Tech beat Georgia three straight years, a feat that was not duplicated until the end of the century. As for Alabama, 1961...
"...he has a big buyout?" No, not really for a well heeled bunch like Pitt. You want him? He comes cheap and you can have a defensive coordinator for just $1 more...but wait! It gets better...act now and we will throw in a defensive back coach absolutely free. Call now! 1-800- GET JEFF
There was a lot of discussion about comparing Kenny with UNC's quarterback Sam Howell. Having watched both of them it is no contest. Pickett is to my mind clearly the better quarterback. He may not be Trevor Lawrence but he is pretty close.
Yates and Sims must be the best we have in the ranch. Until the offensive line is better, the defense is better, it will not really matter who is quarterback.
I wish I could believe this but the fact is we have a losing record in a conference that is a shadow of its former self. Sharing the basement with Duke is not a sign of progress. Not buying this thesis of "adjusted records".
Upon further review, somehow Flowers "only" caught 2 passes, both for TDs, for something like 80 plus yards but then so did just about every other Eagle receiver post similarly gaudy stats. The worst part was the quarterback running for 80 something yards on just a handful of carries. Ridiculous.
He didn't get fired because he was a former quarterback, a golden boy who had paid his dues at Central Florida and was ready to restore the glory days of the Big Red, the Black Shirts, and so forth. Personally, I thought it was a good hire and the Cornhuskers had a lot of competition for him...
Imagine the frustration Dodd must have felt in 1960. The Jackets went 5-5 with the five losses being by a TOTAL of 11 points including 1 point losses to Alabama and UGA.
We could be "8-2"? Sure, if we were playing in the MAC but the gods of football tend to be unforgiving to those teams that are manifestly careless with the football, commit multiple penalties and have a defense that leaves receivers open by 5, 10, or even 15 yards. A blind man could see that...
Thank you for the thought you put into that reply. For some reason, I thought they may have come in from out of state or something but being in Georgia made for an interesting take as well.
Curious as to what these opposing fans thought about the game, our team, our coaches, the game day experience in general? On the other hand, they may have been too polite to say what they really thought.
