We just might be a little more competitive this year or at least I hope so.

One interesting set of stats: (looking at the last year the player played college ball) we now have:

MGH 13.6 ppg
Smith 13.4 ppg
White 11.9 ppg
Mitchell 9.8 ppg
Jacobs 8.4 ppg

Granted it wasn't all done in the ACC, but at least we have scorers, which seems to have been a big problem this past season.

It's actually not a bad roster, imo. I think we're set up well to lose close games in the last 3 minutes to just about anybody.

Not sure what the heck Borzello means by "Georgia Tech has done very well with transfers." because our record the last couple of years deflates that statement.

Look for Heath to get more minutes than Heyward, he should be improved less the Soph. jinx?

White should play at the 3/sf and 4/PF to get as many minutes as possible, as a 6th man type. When lineups are smaller with the opponents...Jacobs can give Mitchell a breather in the post, allowing White and MGH to form an experienced front line.

I think he just means that we bring good transfers in, not that we do well with them.

Player MIN PPG
Marcus Georges-Hunt 30.9 13.6
Charles Mitchell 22.1 9.8
Demarco Cox 26.6 8.8
Chris Bolden 21.3 6.9
Quinton Stephens 18.9 6
Robert Sampson 21.4 5.5
Tadric Jackson 15 5.4
Josh Heath 19.5 4.3
Travis Jorgenson 21.7 3.7
Corey Heyward 11.8 1.3
Ben Lammers 5.9 1.2
Abdoulaye Gueye 4.3 0.5

Adam Smith 29.9 13.4
Nick Jacobs 20 8.4
James White 27.1 11.9
Sylvester Ogbonda 0 0

LAST YEAR 219.4 67
THIS YEAR 227.1 79.5

Looking at all players most recent season, scoring SHOULD be much improved as we're gaining 12 more ppg despite only a 3.5% increase in minutes. This is also before factoring in player progression. I think Travis and Tadric should see a fairly significant increase in scoring. Additionally, it doesn't take into account hopefully improved spacing (which leads to improved fg %)

well,
PG has a chance to put together a decent team.Of course that may mean little in the long run for us.

Quite a difference from UALR to the ACC. He's a good athlete but in the end we may win 5 ACC games instead of 4.

Remember the gigantic impact Brandon Reed had? Yeah me either.

He actually had some pretty good games and was fairly underrated IMO.

He's also a weird case because he averaged 15.1 ppg as a freshman at Arkansas State, but then averaged only 9.6 ppg as a senior when he returned there. Clearly, he didn't develop as he should have and may have even regressed

I don't think anyone is expecting White to be a superstar, but if he can provide us 25 mins and 8 ppg like Reed did in 2011-2012 that will be perfectly fine with me. Seems to be a high energy guy with a passion to win

Based on who we've landed, given our current situation, it would seem we're essentially rolling with our existing core, depending on giant leaps forward from TJ & TJ, bringing in super subs in both front & back court, in the hopes they can get us those few extra points or stops in opposing momentum to win a few more games.

Essentially, expect more of the same this year, but with hope an added tweak swings things towards us.

Welcome James White.
