I may be behind in vernacular but seeing “we here” in response makes me wonder if Dontae was actually talking about stadium attendance...
I may be shortsighted, but im about 99.9% sure hes talking about the fact that some of his former teammates are choosing to go elsewhere (jump ship) while Dontae and Kennard are staying loyal to the grind and Tech.I may be behind in vernacular but seeing “we here” in response makes me wonder if Dontae was talking about stadium attendance...

It is not about attendance. It is about focusing on the players who are still here and not the ones who have chosen to leave. It is about the guys who are still here and Kyle Kennard is agreeing. It's also very good advice.I may be behind in vernacular but seeing “we here” in response makes me wonder if Dontae was actually talking about stadium attendance...
whenever a team loses games the first two things they think is fire the coach and apparently the back up qb has actually always been the better player. literally every team from us to bama goes through it lolThis is 100% correct. What we "non-expert" fans look at is the won-loss record and how the team looks when it wins or loses. We can usually tell if the team is playing well, not making unforced errors, getting beat by teams that are not traditional powers. Are we often wrong? No. But we cannot tell you which things are causing the problems or how to fix them. And, saying "Fire Geoff Collins" is the easiest thing for most fans to say when they are frustrated with the team they follow.
Domenick has an offer from Penn St
He has improved recruiting some over PJ but we are about on par with the ACC except for Clemson, FSU, Miami, and a revived UNC.
Actually GT was 6th - NCST's class was rated slightly higher. At the end of the day though GT is part of what I call the large, mushy middle. A bunch of schools whose recruiting is all very similar (I don't believe recruiting is enough of a science that it is likely accurate to multiple decimal places). GT can recruit well enough to be in the middle of the pack. To be better than that it has to do player development and game day prep/coaching better than those other schools. On the flip side, if you do those 2 things worse than the other schools then you are going to end up at the bottom of the conference.FIFY.
Miami and FSU didn't finish as high in the rankings, 21st and 34th respectively, but that's mainly because they only signed 17 and 14 commits this year. Both schools signed 8 4* recruits each. They wer 16th and 13th respectively in average star rating. Interestingly, both of these teams finished ahead of Clemson in average star, but behind UNC. There is a clear top tier with these 4, but GT can and should be able to move towards that upper middle consistently. As a matter of fact, we were 5th in average stars in the ACC this year, and our recruiting ranking also suffered from the low volume of commits. We are getting more talented every year. It's time we start seeing the results on the field.

yep,Oh, I agree that "everything is not coaching". I just disagree with the "...as y'all proclaim it to be" part.
But I do think our problems have been exacerbated by bad coaching; yes, I do.
He was a bit taller than me (6'1") and he was a bit taller. Didn't try to pick him up, but he it wouldn't surprise me that he's that big and felt as strong as an ox, maybe does some power lifting. That’s funny and I’m sure I know exactly who it is, and I haven’t even talked to him. Was he about 6’5 and 350? If it’s him then you just met one of the most awesome guys on this planet. And that dude can sing!
Nice write up from KS at thaAJC.That's awesome! I was thinking he'd be looking for a PT school where he could also play, so VSU and its proximity made sense to me. If he can get on at PSU that's a major win both for football and future career.
But frankly, doesn't it all come down to that, for the most part? This is the depths this boards goes to make every issue an coaching issue
Two years of eligibility left, and that's a pretty neat field to get into. Good luck to him.Nice write up from KS at thaAJC.
Why Jordan Domineck is leaving the Georgia Tech football program
The reason that former Georgia Tech defensive end Jordan Domineck gave for going into the transfer portal was PT. However, it wasn’t playing time, but physical therapy.www.ajc.com
Obviously, it takes both talent and good coaching to make a really good team. But frankly, doesn't it all come down to that, for the most part?
Say, for instance, "The talent level is bad" - why isn't that on the coaches for either being poor evaluators or not bringing in better talent?
You can coach up lesser talent - we've seen it happen. We've also seen teams with allegedly much better talent (hello, Miami and FSU) seemingly wallow in mediocrity for a handful of years.
Now, there are going to be some things out of a coach's control, and the current atmosphere of the portal has heightened that.
But I contend you can always look at coaching first and foremost, whether it's in the preparation Monday-Thursday or the stuff that happens far away from the practice field and the meeting room.
Great take and perspective on the current landscape at TechPlayers win games and coaches lose them. Always has been that way to fans.
My take on Collins is that he is one of the guys that thinks outside the box. He probably came up with ideas about how he would do things differently if he became a head coach from recruiting to uniforms to slogans to the way practice was done.
He has improved recruiting some over PJ but we are about on par with the ACC except for Clemson and a revived UNC. So we are more middle of the conference in recruiting rank. So to win above the middle of the pack we have to out coach some of the others. So far he has been a failure with his game management and game preparation skills. I blame a lot of that on his inability to put together a better than average staff. Some were not ready for their positions at a P5 school. He may have underestimated the level of competition he would face even in the ACC. Some of it may have been the way he had organized responsibilities within his staff. The revised staff is more experienced and organized differently than before. I expect improvement there.
This year is his chance to redeem himself as to whether he will continue as a head coach at GT.
If we want fans in the stadium then put a team on the field that our fans feel has a decent chance of winning when the fans make an effort to come to the games.
I feel better now.
I agree, we've seen lesser talented players perform better than the current more talented players under a different coaching staff. Under CPJ, I'm not sure the defense was ever as bad as it's been the last 3 years. But frankly, doesn't it all come down to that, for the most part?

We were really bad in 2018 (102 in DFEI), slightly better in the first two years of CGC then major regression to 112 in DFEI last year. The biggest issue we have is that unlike 2018, we no longer have an offense capable of eating large chunks of clock to give the D rest. I expected a poor defense the first two years because of the new offense and its growing pains. I honestly believed we should have been a lot better on defense last year. The offense was good enough to not be the reason for the abysmal results.I agree, we've seen lesser talented players perform better than the current more talented players under a different coaching staff. Under CPJ, I'm not sure the defense was ever as bad as it's been the last 3 years.
I keep reading about how this player and that disappointed and underperformed. It's becoming a theme. Just maybe it's because they were poorly coached?I agree, we've seen lesser talented players perform better than the current more talented players under a different coaching staff.
