He interviewed at UNLV then didn't take it. GT would seem a better fit for a guy from Cincy than UNLV.

Looks like Cronin got a 7-year extension in 2014 and is reportedly making somewhere around $2.2M. That would be a tough get unless he wants the challenge of the ACC.

Unless MBob pulls Gregg Marshall or the equivalent out of his hat by Tuesday or Wednesday then he is done as the AD. He'll make whatever garbage hire we end up with then within the next year he will either be fired or will have left for another job. There is so much egg on his face right now his head will turn into an omelet any minute.

YOU DO NOT FIRE YOUR CURRENT COACH COMING OFF HIS BEST SEASON UNLESS YOU HAVE A BONAFIDE UPGRADE LOCKED AND LOADED IN YOUR BACK POCKET WITH THE ABILITY TO PAY THE NECESSARY MONEY FOR SAID UPGRADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a dumb ***!!!!!!!

When his best season is an NIT trip and the next year looks unsalvageable you do. No amount of caps or exclimations points are changing that. gregory had to go. Period.

So you don't blame coaches who can't recruit either? He fired CBG, promised the very best and all sources say he missed on top two.
And it's his fault that the "top two" turned him down? What could he have done differently that you can with complete knowledge of things point to? Could he have offered more money, assuming that was the difference maker? Since when does the Athletic Department at Tech have a bottomless well from which to draw money? We are probably fortunate even to have been in the running.

Look I'm no Gregory fan. He should've never been hired to begin with but if we wait one more year to fire him it gives us more money to go get another coach. If we are getting outbid by ****ing Vandy then obviously we should've waited. No matter who the coach is next year we will suck.

If you think the money saved from keeping gregory another year would have made a difference then I don't know what to tell you. His buyout wasn't large in any way, and the cost to keep him would be paid by the program in other areas. If money was an issue this year it would be an issue next year. At least getting rid of gregory now gives the new coach at least a chance to recruit the loaded ga class.

So, you don't think GT has enough to offer that an AD should be able to sell it to prospective coaches and guage their actual interest?

And you think that hiring the guy who took a team projected at the bottom of conf Usa to be competitive with its best teams in one year would be a horrible decision because he's a GT hero?

I guess we're different kinds of fans.

Do ADs have buyouts? Would be comical if we are soon paying Hewitt, Gregory and Bobo to not work here.
