We can find out.

I know a guy who has a cousin with a black van. That's the first step of vengeance.

For legal purposes, perhaps we should take this discussion offline. Look away gtbync, nothing to see here ...

{Disclaimer: Yes, I'm kidding.}

no link because it's not public, just posting here

I got no problem with that. I'm just curious what you're saying exactly. Or would you rather not go any further than you have? I don't necessarily have a problem with that either.

I've seen from a couple of trustworthy sources that Capel interviewed on Tuesday. That's not his people getting the word out there. I don't think that he would have gone through the trouble of interviewing if he weren't open to accepting the position.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen those same sources say that he has been offered the job - yet. They also haven't said anything to the contrary either, but perhaps they just don't know yet.

Really, really hoping that we see Capel has been named the new coach soon

Hope, if it's Capel, he understands there's no "Sociology" major to hide guys in.

Also, I was able to make it through a few minutes of this NC-centric podcast (or whatever it is) with these (I think) NC-based sports radio turds. Just wanted to get a sense for what their thoughts were.

They seem to think Capel won't leave Duke as that'd jeopardize his supposed CIW status, blah, blah, blah. Say Said he'd "never" take the Vandy job. Just more fodder for discussion.

FWIW, I doubt the job will be offered to anyone until MBob has conducted interviews with whatever he thinks is his top tier.
He may have a fav going into the process, but like a kid taking recruiting visits, that can change after a face to face.

I think he will eventually offer it to whoever he feels will do the best job, after he has completed face to face interviews. I would expect that decision this weekend sometime.

Re: Capel
It would not surprise me one but if it's him despite other insider reports. I was told on Friday when BG was let go that Capel was top of list.

Re: Drew, tons of smoke that he is going to Vandy even being reported by local Nashville sports that he is top candidate

You know, success at one school does not automatically mean you will have success at another. There are factors like how well does the candidate get along with the AD and how much his family is willing to relocate. There are myriad of factors other than how deep into the NIT his team went. You aren't likely to see those in a tweet.

I have absolutely ZERO idea if Lauren Brownlow is connected to this situation or has any inside sources. Sounds like she is just giving an uninformed opinion here. That said, she is one of the most entertaining sportswriters in the ACC. They absolutely crush our Russell contract. Say it is for "dad sweats."

I don't get this coach-in-waiting thing either. Based on Capel's track record, we have about 1/3 of our fan base thinking he is not good enough for the GT job. Why would that same person be assumed to be a shoe-in for the Duke job?

Also, where are all the internet nerds tracking Bryce Drew's flight details? Usually we would have heard by now about some super secret plane from Valpo to Atlanta.

This is the smartest thing that has been said on here.

I thought you would focus on the fact they gave for Capel not going to GT was we are a Russell Athletic school :) I hadn't realized it but NCCU is a Russell Athletic school so Moton must be our next coach. Those companies rule the world you know.

I don't know, shak. See YIJacket's comments re. Russell ...

No idea why I missed that. Clearly that's the power-link. Moton it is. Russell4Evah!

Honestly, I had the rumors that we'll soon be an Under Armour school in the back of my mind when I was looking at candidates.

@kg01 - we do in fact have sociology.

@GTRX7 - no planes to ATL because everyone's already in Houston. Bud's been there most of the week for Campaign GT. They're definitely both there by now for the Final 4 & coaches' convention.

Whether it's Drew next week or Capel tomorrow, it's fine by me because we'll have landed a candidate that MBob established in his top tier and is not settling for less.

Side note: When I was at Tech I interned in Under Armour's Innovation Lab in 2012 and I had a lot of conversations with their school sourcing department to try and get GT in UA. [Fun fact: GT was the first entity of any kind to buy UA by buying about a dozen and wore them for their night game against Notre Dame, the first Saturday national broadcast night game]

At that time they couldn't because Russell just gave Tech so many free things and UA couldn't compete. They were very upset that GT didn't come on full time and that has always been a school Plank wants in. Now that they have a lot more money, the UA to GT rumors could finally happen... But Nike is very aware of this and loves to ruin UA's dreams so I wouldn't be surprised if there was a small bidding war.

I think this is going to come to a head within the next 12 months with the possibility we see Russell gone before their contract ends in 2018. Just a hypothesis on my part.

@shakim3 - why didn't you go there full time? Could've probably been a big booster by now, given the stock price.
