I want Graham and Yates to have a chance to develop. Use them, yes, but neither are ready to start; Oliver is. We should definitely start burning Yates' four games to see how he might do. Hell, he might win the starting job right away. I was disappointed that Graham didn't start, or at least play some today, but then I heard he was in a boot. We need him back, and LJ needs to rid the pines. Until he is well, we HAVE to start Oliver.

Sometimes you have to play guys before they are ready to start. In basketball Jose was that way. If the staff thinks Oliver can be the QB in the future then they should for sure play him. But if they have already decided that his long term use is going to be in other areas, which to me it looks like they have, then they need to bite the bullet and let either Graham or Yates get what they can out of the experience this year.

The fear is that Georgia Tech pulled a Nebraska here... been saying it all along. Nebraska has been trying to win with a spread for 17 years and still can't.... You have to recognize what is good for you. This is going to be a really tough road. That Citadel team lost to Towson and Elon. It is fortunate they escaped from South Florida because its hard to see this team winning another game all year.

Jeff Monken would have had an offensive line led by Parker Braun.... a backfield consisting of Jordan Mason, Kirvonte Benson (all conference), Jerry Howard, Dontae Smith, etc. He would have thrashed this team by 50 points. Oliver would have likely been the starting QB, and he is built for option football. The guy barely knew the offense last year and had 103 yards rushing on 13 ypc against Louisville... 97 yards and 3 touchdowns in like 2 quarters of play against South Florida... 115 yards on 16 yards per carry against Bowling Green.. 120 yards and 2 touchdowns against North Carolina... 215 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns against Virginia Tech. Tobias was leading an offense that scored 66, 49, 40, 63, etc and they didn't even run real option plays. They just did that QB sweep/keeper thing 90% of the time.

The guy was going to be a star as the full-time starter... With a good offensive line and a stable of good backs alongside him.

They would have lost to Clemson... beat the pants off South Florida... and beat Citadel by at least 40 points... and who knows how many TD's Benson and Oliver would have at this point.

OK, you went there, and I agree with MOST of your post. And, I think Monken would have been a great successor to PJ, but what I have in bold would still have been in question. Even with Parker, I am not sure we had a "good" offensive line. I do believe we would have been able to have a chance to win 8-10 games, depending on injuries and development. With that said, we can't go back and do that now. It may come to that in the future, but we are now committed with up to a 7 year contract, so it is what it is.

I do say we would have had a "serviceable" O line, with a chance to be good. And, of course, Parker would have been all conference.

There are a bunch of issues to take away from this game, but the QB experiment by stupid Dace is ridiculous. TO clearly gives us the best chance to win. This team was the poorest prepared team I have seen in forever and I place the blame on the coaches. We have an OC who is terrible and a HC that looks like he is in over his head.

We lost to that same South Florida team running that scheme last year. No reason to believe we’d beat them this year.

We’d still be 1-2. The difference would be which two.

We wouldn't have lost last year if CPJ had kept Oliver in as QB, and we wouldn't have lost today if Oliver had been left in the entire game as QB.

They lost to that South Florida team because they returned 2-3 kickoffs for touchdowns... Otherwise Tech wins easily. The offense put up 602 yards on South Florida last year. USF was also better last year, but this team can't do jack against Citadel, or South Florida for that matter.

Repeat... the offense put up over 600 yards on South Florida last year. Pretty weak counter-argument.

They made their choice by letting him return kickoffs ( which he is very good at) and playing him in the slot. Our great OC is convinced that LJ is better. And if our head coach don't get his head out of his a** it's going to be a very long and bad year. With TO is think we could have won 6 games. But 1 win will give us a first round draft choice. Oh wait we don't have a draft we want 4 and 5 star players to see this offense and sign for us
