I'm tearing up... I think I just watched Georgia Tech basketball again.

Some issues to correct but there are clear signs of improvement. Don't care who Cornell or Tennessee turn out to be this year.

Jacobs may be as good as our one year out of Bosh. Yea, I'm going there already. I think he brings more on the glass and defensively. And it's a convenient comparison since they're lefty PFs ;)

Happy to see BG's substitution adjustments, mostly. Still question a couple decisions but he wasn't playing guys for the sake of playing guys.

We have basketball players this year. No more hoping our specialists specialize. We have a bunch of guys who can do a number of things, and have something they can fall back on if certain elements aren't clicking.

On to the next one - I'm excited!

Good solid win. Something we haven't been seeing a lot of. Showed great heart in not folding when we went down 7.

As someone else said in chat, we're a solid PG away from being a much better team.

This was a loss last year. that was me with the solid pg comment in the chat. They do a serviceable job but are such liabilities on O it's a killer. TJ nor Heath can shoot. And Heyward is a B Back on the hardwood. A decent pg and this is a legit bubble team. If Q, Tasric or MGH find a jumper watch out. This will be a fun team to watch.

The only thing I hope BG dumps is Smith running the point. The Smith/Tadric BC does not look good.

Chuck/Jacobs/White is a really good 3 man FC.
MGH was huge tonight, made all the right plays.

Gentlemen, it was TN, by 2. And they were missing shots at the end.

We got the win, but my optimism is still in check.

Not picking on Heyward, just remember that he had to play the last couple of years. Notice how much playing time he got tonight... Big difference regarding the tlaent on the court now vs the last couple of years at the guard position. JMO.

I'm proud of the guys for finding a way to get the win at the end of a close game. Hopefully this will give them and CBG some confidence moving forward.

Really nice to not blow this game tonight, but I'm kinda ticked about the end of game execution. I honestly feel we were the better team tonight and we were because we won, but we need to take the next step and not have the mental breakdown that caused us to win by 2 with UTK having the last shot to in or tie, instead of a 5, 7, or 10 pt win.

Need to keep working.

When teams are losing to Western Illinois (Wisconsin), William & Mary (NC State), Northern Florida (Illinois), Chattanooga (Georgia), Monmouth (UCLA), and George Washington (UVA), I'm ok with beating a Tennessee team that still doesn't know whether they're good or bad yet.

We're known for defense and rebounding, two things we didn't do particularly well tonight. Rather than looking at this as barely winning, I'm taking liberties to say tonight was about finding a way to win when we didn't play our best. I know there's a track record that suggests otherwise but it's been for different reasons.

I'll put us in the middle of the ACC pack now, which is higher than my expectations heading into the year.

Let's go Jackets!! Didn't think we played very well tonight and still came away with the win against a pretty good team. Certainly a change from the past few years!

Shocked with our rebounding tonight and sounds like BG was as well. Sure that will be fixed next time out.

This is my gripe. For about 34-36, we did play our best and our best was pretty good, but those few minutes that lapsed almost let a shaky team beat us. Glad we won, but they need to step it up even more or we'll get picked off in a way we shouldn't.

I disagree with the idea that we played our best for 34-36 min. We were outrebounded and had defensive lapses far more than 4-6 minutes of game time. Tennessee's run to start the 2nd half lasted almost 6 minutes by itself.

I'll concede that we don't have a recent history of putting it all together for a game. Maybe I'm just bullish due to not seeing our team panic as often tonight as last year.

Who knows what we have really at this point. Regardless I don't think we played our best for much more than half the game. But it could turn out that was our best.

It's altogether possible that I'm cranky, but there's a next level of consistency available for them to reach.
