Interestingly, UCF is ranked 61st in DFEI and shedding the DC. GT is currently 81st and viewed as improving on D. UCF was 70th last year and we were 77th.
They’re averaging 30+ points per game. That’s all anyone seesInterestingly, UCF is ranked 61st in DFEI and shedding the DC. GT is currently 81st and viewed as improving on D. UCF was 70th last year and we were 77th.
What DC hasn't had a good year at Penn State."He had 1 good year at Penn St." I can already hear the sales pitch.
They are on a five game losing streak in Conference giving up 33 ppg. No clue as to the details but that is a big number! They’re averaging 30+ points per game. That’s all anyone sees
The Wade Phillips of cfb.People just keep hiring him. I will never get it.
What metrics does DFEI include? I assume it is a composite of descriptive stats. I’d like to see what it is and how it’s validated. It doesn’t seem to be very accurate from some of the posts you’ve made. They’re averaging 30+ points per game. That’s all anyone sees
I wouldn't call going from DC to analyst or recruiting specialist failing up. I'm one who has defended Roof in the past but do not want him back as a DC or on field coach. I do think there is potential value in him as a recruiter for GT.
Maybe because that's the only thing that counts. On the scoreboard. UCF is #92 in points allowed. Tech is #57.They’re averaging 30+ points per game. That’s all anyone sees
DFEI is the FEI stats just for the plays your team is on defense. Here’s the overall:What metrics does DFEI include? I assume it is a composite of descriptive stats. I’d like to see what it is and how it’s validated. It doesn’t seem to be very accurate from some of the posts you’ve made.
That is very true. Against Iowa State (maybe Indiana State?), UCF got two pick sixes and still lost the game. We like to complain about tackling...go watch UCF; we are great in comparison! It does not help that UCF's offense stinks....on their 4th QB of the year. They’re averaging 30+ points per game. That’s all anyone sees
Our defense probably suffers when we go 3-and-out, or when they start on our side of the field. It’s worth keeping that in mind. Points per possession is probably a better view of defense than total points allowedThat is very true. Against Iowa State (maybe Indiana State?), UCF got two pick sixes and still lost the game. FEI Defense Ratings (DFEI) are opponent-adjusted possession efficiency data representing the scoring advantage per non-garbage possession a defense would expect to have on a neutral field against an average opponent offense. The relative strength of opponent offenses faced (OOA) is the difference between DFEI and unadjusted defensive possession efficiency (DVE). Opponent offensive points per drive (DPD), available yards percentage (DAY), yards per play (DPP), and the percentages of opponent offensive drives that ended in a touchdown or field goal attempt (DSR), drives that ended in a touchdown (DTD), drives that earned at least 10 yards (DFD), and busted drives that were held to zero or fewer yards (DBD) are calculated from the results of non-garbage, regulation drives in FBS vs FBS games. What metrics does DFEI include? No need.I'll give him this, he can recruit. Wonder how he would do coaching special teams?
Thanks! I’d like to see the validity test data on it, maybe Cronbach’s alpha or whatever they use. With that many factors, I’d also like to see a factor analysis, and maybe the VIF and a vanishing tetrad. I’m not saying it’s not valid, just that I’d like to see that data.FEI Defense Ratings (DFEI) are opponent-adjusted possession efficiency data representing the scoring advantage per non-garbage possession a defense would expect to have on a neutral field against an average opponent offense. If it makes you feel any better, UCF is ranked 99th before taking opponent offense strength into account. I won’t attest to the strength scaling, but the raw DVE seems pretty accurate.
I'm not going to pretend to know any of what you're talking about. Thanks! I’d like to see the validity test data on it, maybe Cronbach’s alpha. Having not seen their methodology and algorithm I may be crazy, so don’t sweat it. Just being a nerd.I'm not going to pretend to know any of what you're talking about.
Ted is a great man, a great Tech man. Yeah, his coaching has not won any awards, but as a human being, he is first class. I am sure he has done well financially and could ride off into the sunset without any concerns. Perhaps he will.
Go Jackets!
