Didn't Tony Head play for Griffin in the early 70's. Went down there for a playoff game with Lakeside. Seemed like he was in on every tackle.
Yes. He played fullback as well as I dimly recall. I taught briefly in Griffin the late 1970s. Griffin was a huge powerhouse in a fairly tough region that included LaGrange, Newnan, Fayette County, Riverdale, and the Clayton county schools. In college, I knew a boy who had played quarterback for Morrow in the early to mid 70s and he talked about how tough Tony Head was but he was just one of many really good players for Griffin.

Yes he played fullback as well. He was a tough hombre. He came to GT as a full back if I remember correctly. He was a heck of a linebacker and could have played there as well. Griffin was very good then as was Lakeside when Creel coached there. I think Lakeside won that game but it was two good teams going at it.

Tony Head was FB in Pepper’s wishbone O behind QB Danny Myers and in front of HB’s David Sims and ELI. Pat Moriarty and Adrian Rucker also played HB. That O could crank!

Didn't know the former governor of Georgia played at Tech.... thought he went to UGAG.....

Believe you meant Joe Burns.
Nope, I meant Joe Frank Burns whose school teacher parents named him after the Georgia governor Joe Frank Harris because at about the time Joe Burns was born he gave the teachers a pretty big raise. So they named their new born son after him. People name children for all kinds of reasons why not for a bigger paycheck? Makes sense to me.

Yes, but in your post, you called him Joe Frank Harris. That's what you were being teased about.
