he isn’t a good DC, I’ll give you that. I disliked his passive, “keep it all in front” type of defensive design. Perhaps during the last era of “pro style”, 3/5 step drops, waiting for the offense to make a mistake during a drive was viable. But this era is spread heavy. Allowing teams to complete underneath and try to tackle short is a recipe to give up a lot of points. Give them the easy throws and they will take it and drive for a TD most times.
That being said, count me in as someone that would have him back as a linebacker coach. He was probably one of the best recruiters we had when he was here, and the man obviously has some type of knowledge if he keeps getting hired. I’m sure we are one of the only places he would take a demotion like that. But I also get the desire to move on and be done with it.
