Hope you go with us to Birmingham.
Would love to be there since we live in Huntsville. Got family obligations in Florida unfortunately. Was hoping for the pop tart bowl so I could make it, we got a good location for fans in the southeast, but we got stuck with a low quality opponent, not because they are a bad team but for perception.

This will be a test for Sanduchi and the defense. Vandy's offense dropped a good bit down the stretch against South Carolina, LSU and Tennessee. That is a fairly tough stretch of games. They also played Texas and Alabama in Conference Games. Seems the SEC wanted Vandy to suck and get easy wins for their "good" teams.
It has been that way for a long, long time. I don't know why, other than money, Vanderbilt continues to prostitute itself and suffer abuse like this from the SEC. Come to think of it, kind of reminds me of how Tech is treated by the ACC. Downtrodden football programs unite! You only have your chains to lose. With apologies to Marx and Engels for stealing their quote from The Communist Manifesto.

Is there any info about tickets yet and which side will be the Tech side?

I lived in Birmingham for several years after GT.

It’s often a mixed bag of locals that want to drink and see a football game, potentially escaping family members around the holidays.

It’ll be cold and you wear something like this to hedge your bets.

My family and I are lucky because the travel isn't an issue. We are in the ATL so this is an easy drive. I'm an alum so my kids grew up rooting for GT and my daughter is a student at GT now and enjoys football and going to the games. The fact that I would have preferred a different opponent is irrelevant to whether we will go or not. We will go and have a great time together cheering for our team. Having gone through a number of rough periods of bad GT football I'm not at the point where I take any bowl game for granted.

Folks, if your priorities are different or the logistics of getting to Birmingham are tough or high cost for you I get it. I'm not trying to be critical of anyone else and the decisions you all make for yourselves and your families and am absolutely not telling anyone what decisions they should make. Just sharing my own thoughts.

I'm sure Vandy ain't crazy about playing us.
Some comments from Vandy fans. Haynes King has a pretty good reputation.

"That’s an interesting / scary opponent…battle of the gritty QBs"
"Very tough matchup"
"In all seriousness this gonna be a hard game to win"
"If their QB doesn’t opt out it will be a tough matchup."
"I hate being in Birmingham about as much as I hate having to play Georgia Tech. If King and Haynes are playing, they're going to have a field day running over our defense full of guys that can't make tackles. Tech is also on a pretty good heater beating Miami and taking Georgia to eight OTs."

Mods, if we have a separate "other bowl games" thread, feel free to move this there,

But, Duke will absolutely be destroyed by Ole Miss. I can't believe the best these bowls can do is provide completely lopsided games like this. And, Duke will probably have 2000 fans at the game, if they are lucky.

Handicapping these types of games is really difficult. If this was a regular season game that mattered, Old Piss would blast Puke.

But does Old Piss show up? They barely did against a 2 win Miss St team in the egg bowl.

I’m looking to fade teams like Bama, Miami, and Ole Miss if it looks like they don’t care.

There's literally nothing to lose. No one will remember this game outside of the two fanbases 5 minutes after the game ends.
Eh, I think "lol they lost to Vandy" combined with "they went 7-6 last year, basically a .500 team" would have significant negative impact on preseason rankings. I wouldn't expect that team to be ranked. I would expect a team that went 8-5 and finished with a win over Oklahoma to be ranked preseason.

Between Vandy, OK, and Arky, I was hoping for one of the 2 not named Vandy. Their offense is like PJ's, but on steroids with that QB. Our D is going to have their work cut out for them.
Vandy lost 6 games:
GA State 36-32
Missouri 30-27
Texas 27-24
USCe 28-7
Tennessee 36-23
LSU 24-17

They beat:
VPI 37-24
Alcorn St 55-0
Alabama 40-35
Kentucky 20-13
Ball St 24-14
Auburn 17-7

That doesn’t look like a scoring juggernaut to me.
