Difficult? Yes. Impossible? No. Control what you can control. Key always says focus on the next play. I agree with him on his philosophy.

If it was just that call, I agree. But the accumulation of odd calls was just too much.

I agree we shouldn't have lost it but that's easy for me to say. If I'd been in their shoes, I would not have finished that game. The refs would've been deliberating how many games I'd be suspended for in the next season probably. :cautious:

I agree with him on that too, but it took all of our momentum away. We had just put together a good drive, made a good stop, and were about to get great field position. We would have taken the lead or at the very least, pinned Vandy deep for their next drive. The refs were so bad that the in game entertainers who do interviews were saying things about the refs.

Just left the game. My thoughts…

1) What a sh*t show all around.
2) Vandy had one starter opt out/transfer. We were missing several.
3) I like Key’s fire. I don’t care that he was flagged. Ref show again tonight and someone has to say something.
4) The outcome of this game is no indication of where this program is headed.
5) I love Philo, but you can’t complain about him not seeing snaps, especially after what we saw King do in Athens. Just don’t. He’ll have his day.
6) Vandy is not Vandy of the past, so don’t act like they are. They have a good staff and player at Q.
7) Lol when Pavia portals.
8) 2 years in a row winning seasons. Better than the former. Great fan showing today in Birmingham. We’re on the right track.

As I said in the post you quoted, it wasn't easy. But it wasn't impossible either. In a fistfight like we were in, someone has to be the first to fold.

On a positive note, I thought we got pressure on the qb better than we did in pretty much any game this season. Unfortunately, pavia was too good, and we usually couldn’t tackle him for the sack.

I wonder how different our bowl might have been if we had beaten Georgia. No doubt we would have been playing a higher profile team in a higher profile bowl. I suspect we would have been more focused and wou!d have played more like we wanted it. We have discussed the many ways we could have won that game, so no need to do it again.

I agree that the biggest play of the game was the idiotic punt return call. We were playing sharp then and would have had good field position with a standard fair catch.

He doesn't look at all like a Lamar Jackson type athlete but damn is he elusive for a guy his size AND speed. He just has incredible awareness and ability to make people miss.

I have to say that I,in no way, shape or form felt like our team mailed it in today. from my vantage point they gave it everything they had out there.

I know we can’t name players we are frustrated with. But there is one defender I have watched blow coverages and miss tackles consistently for two seasons.

Yes the refs suck once again.

But I am glad we get some new players next year at his position.

Sorry this is extremely grumpy. I’m proud of our guys for the most part. But GOOD GRACIOUS.

Edit: replying to @Yaller Jacket but I forgot to insert quoted message.

You might be right, but it’s sort of a strange take, after getting whipped by a team that no one thinks was worthy, to suggest that we would have had a better chance of beating a better team. Like I said, you might be right, but you have to win the games you play.

Ok, ok, we get it. Helps to have us having to play against Peyton Vick (in your eyes), his team, and that third team in black 'n white.

Tell me, how spectacular would he have been if just 2% of the obvious holds by his OL were called?

You don't think playing a real team in a meaningful bowl doesn't result in the team practicing better? I get you have to beat the team you're playing not the one you want to play, but it does factor in. We got hosed at the cesspool & consequently got jobbed on our bowl. That had a cost, they you show up in Birmingham and get hosed again. Just not right and this team did not deserve what has been done to them.
