No actual knowledge, just my understanding and belief. They originally were not going to have the upper level open during the game. GT sold a lot more tickets than expected, and Vandy sold a lot more tickets than expected. They decided to open the upper level for sale since they are apparently sold out (or close to it) on the lower level. I don't know if either team got allocations in the upper level. I assume it is just available for whoever wasn't able to get tickets and wants to go to the game.
Thanks. Tickets are way better priced up there but I'd like to be near GT fans if possible. Might just wait till day of and see if anything opens up lower bowl and I'll just bite the bullet up top if needed.

Start over there, meander over to the West side as time allows 😉

Kevin Harris will play rush end, just like last years bowl when Kennard left. Worked out fine for us last time

I’ve been told it’s supposed to rain during the game.

Took some digging, but this map actually shows the GT side on the left/west. https://birminghambowl.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/2024-BB-11x17-MAP_Page_1-scaled.jpg

I have 6 tickets for the bowl game. GT side, section 145, row dd, 19-24. $125 each (check Ticketmaster, StubHub, SeatGeek - no tickets available in that GT section). Will sell as 6 or split into 4 and 2. Low price, just ask you make a donation to Roll Call if you haven't already.

Squints, where have you been?
The short version is I've given up on college sports. The things I like are being pushed aside and the things I don't like are being pushed to the forefront. Feels like more of a beauty pageant now than a sport to me so I'm spending my time on other things. I've always been more of a pro sports guy anyway.

My daughter and I are at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown. Any good restaurants around there, or will we need to Uber ( just for fun we’re taking Amtrak, so we won’t have a car).
I'm assuming that's the one by Railroad Park and there are a couple good spots near by. I haven't been but Current is supposed to be good but pricey. Good People has a good food truck there and it's next to a chicago style pizza place called Tortuga's that really good if you like that style of pizza. Hero Donuts has good breakfast sandwiches, better than the donuts imo. Falafel cafe is also nearby and I love that place but it's definitely a low key hole in the wall type joint.

I think the best spot for out of towners is probably the area between Morris Ave and about 5th Ave and 24/25th street to 20th. Lot of good restaurant, coffee shop, and bar options in a walkable area. It's not too far from the hotel you're at or the stadium. I love East/West (incredible wings), Pizza Grace, Gus' Hot Dogs, El Barrio, and Yo Mama's (also incredible wings but totally different style). Lot of different price points too. There are amazing fine dining places not far from more casual spots. Most of the bars around there are more of a cocktail style of bar but most of them are really good. There's some newer stuff that I haven't tried yet including a whiskey bar and a fancy restaurant with a speakeasy that are getting some hype.

Are any of Frank Stitt's restaurants still open? He closed Highlands Grill "temporarily" and I don't think it ever reopened.

Che Fonfon and Bottega are still open. Rumor is Highlands is doing private events but they never ever really reopened after the pandemic. Which is a drag because I never got to go 😭
