It's kinda corny, but there is a fund raising drive in almost every county of Alabama every week to send money to Tuscaloosa. Touchdown Clubs, Red Elephant Clubs, etc ... all organize the money flow ... it's impressive.
Auburn doesn't do this? Or, do the Plainsmen just depend upon "Yella Fella" to pour millions into a lost cause? Lost in the sense of usurping the Tide in the Yellowhammer state.

I pretty much gave up on the Collins’ experiment after the Citadel game. That said, unless he made a scene and pitched a fit, I don’t see why he had to be escorted to his car and not allowed to see the players. That’s ****ty on our part, if there isn’t more to the story.

That said, I can’t help but find it kind of funny lol

Sounds like they had an elite pace getting him off campus.

He was escorted to his car and not allowed to talk to the team. So far the GTAA has not handled this well. There are some initial reports surfacing that a large portion of players and their families are extremely unhappy about the way this unfolded and several are talking about transferring immediately. I have NOT been able to corroborate this beyond the initial source, but that source is reliable.

The only reason to do this is if some argument had occurred and things got bad during the firing. Otherwise, great way to lose the team. Despite the coach's failings, many players feel that personal connection to the coach - I remember the embattled Charlie Weis walking out to the field with his players arm in arm and that was a show of unity... Surely, the guys that be isn't THAT stupid enough to follow the standard corporate "How to fire an employee 101" procedures where you fire/layoff and employee and while that's happening, security and IT are at your desk confiscating everything that belongs to the company and they walk you straight to the door. You let the guy do his goodbyes and kisses and ride off into the sunset.

Things are changing. P5 vs G5 isn’t that important. A good coach with the portal can get a team top-25 in 2 years. If I were a coach, all I’d care about would be reducing the institutional friction that prevented me from winning.

That said - I would be ecstatic with Deion, but I don’t think it’s gonna happen. I think he likes where he is.
SO JSU is a better job than GT ? You really can say that? From all im hearing DS is interested in the role as a potential "stepping stone" (key word right there) and would love to come back to ATL. A job thats viewed as a stepping stone doesn't backup your narrative and there is still a very wide gap from G5 talent to P5. I think you missed the mark here.

This is one thing that has bothered me for a little while and that hasn't changed.
It feels like the big donors are throwing TStan under the bus in order to put distance between themselves and the Collins hiring.
Collins was one of the guys the big donors were willing to give more money for. They certainly had at least some input into his hiring. Now that it has gone bad it feels like they are looking for a way to put the blame on others.

It was these same big donors that refused to support the program at the same level under Johnson. Which is partially why a change had to be made in the first place.
The "big donors" that would complain about Coach Johnson with expletives loaded diatribes should be feeling real good about themselves. They could have given Coach Johnson the level of support that was given Collins but in the petty manner of those with lots of money they petulantly refused to do so. Hope they enjoy digging deeper for the cash to pay Coach Collins and his assistants.

Not to mention SWAC is FCS, not G5

I mean let's be real mid season firings probably never go smoothly. For Collins he probably still believes he could turn things around and , it was probably emotional being this was his dream job

AJC story was updated some additional comments from Cabrera confirming both firings and some additional details:

"Prior to his being informed of his dismissal by Cabrera, Collins was at the team’s offices Monday morning leading preparation for the Jackets’ Saturday game at No. 24 Pittsburgh. Players were in attendance for meetings and a weightlifting session."

So, clearly he had not been informed and the news leaking out yesterday was a really really bad look.

I hate it for Todd. Not sure if that is a good move or not. Time will tell. I do get the vibe that Todd is somewhat behind the times if you will. I think Geoff mesmerized him from the get go as I remember Todd saying something at the initial hiring press conference about he was unable to find anything Geoff couldn't do as he checked all the boxes.

As for Geoff, I really started questioning his style and leadership right when the Narduzzi handshake went down. For me, that stuck in my mind as a defining moment.

I am relieved that GTAA is doing something about it. I hate to admit it but I have not been to any games lately because I do not want to invest my money in that product. No disrespect to the players as I feel they are somewhat victims of the situation.

I don't think he is being serious. That said a prospective candidate will want to kick the tires on this deal before agreeing to come here. In just about every way this shapes up to be a ticklish situation for a new coach.

Powerhouse arch rival in complete control of the state? check
Contentious media relationships? check
Divided fan base? check
Uncertain team atmosphere and likely divided team? check
No team leadership? check
Huge debt? check
The Hill? check
Apathetic student body? check
National perception at an all time low? check

If Prime Time was smart, he would take a pass on this mess and wait for the FSU job to come open. He is young and a hot commodity. He does not need this aggravation unless he just sees this as a stepping stone to be discarded in a couple of years.

There’s 1 name for AD who makes a lot of sense and has good ties to tech. I’ve heard his name brought up from some people I know that know things.
