Spring Practice Who to watch for?

Look for Brady Swilling in a possible move to B Back. He is a strong runner and showed it at the spring game by running over defenders as a QB. Bennett Barton was impressive at WR in the spring and fall practices and had some highlight days going against the first and second units.

unless Swilling has added weight he looks more like A back material and is listed behind Martenson in depth charts. Spring practice will provide opportunity for some hidden gems hopefully

I'll go with Whitehead, Tre Jackson, and Leggett.
Got to meet Tre on one of his visits. The kid just looks mean, like he is ready to fight at any time. Great mentality for the LB postion.

Offseason has shifted from recruiting to making walk-ons message board legends, I see...:)
Exactly we have had some pretty good walk ons , Bedford, Godhigh plus big improvement like Snoddy. The new class except for the 4 EE have a lot to learn come Summer and Fall. The Fr and RSFR have been here and should be getting familiar with the system. Are the not talked about guys going to be buried forever or are there some diamonds in the rough who are getting polished and will contribute beyond scout teams.

CPJ always has a walk-on contribute every year he's been here. Who's next?

Tre Jackson looks the part to be a hard hitting LB! Ready to see Trey Klock in action along with CJ Leggett! I hope Whitehead finally gets on the field and gets ten or so sacks!!!!

All indications are Isaiah Willis will be a fairly big contributor next year, unless some of the true freshman A-Backs jump him on the depth chart.

CPJ mentioned Snoddy, Andrews, Lynch, and Searcy on NSD as our top ABacks, fwiw.

Watch Smooth:

We lost 7 guys who routinely handled the ball in the B-back mesh and the A-backs. How does the mesh look? How well do the A-backs keep pitch relationship? How often does the ball touch the ground? Are the A-backs making their blocks on the edge?

I'd be happy if I visually lose track of the ball sometimes...that happened to me a lot last year ("oh, he kept it", "oh, Zach has it and he's already 15 yards downfield", "oh (holy cow) he pitched it").

If the ball is out there for everyone to see like a big meatball, then we aren't at the same level as last year.

Has Justin found a receiver that he is comfortable with (like Smelter)?

Give me the answers to these questions and I will tell you how we'll do next year. I have confidence that we'll be better on D, better on the D line and excellent on the O line.
