I like KB and if he wanted to stay I would be happy to have him. But he ran for over 1000 yds 2 years ago in the 3o. Then he blew out his knee for the second time. Is he healthy? Can he cut like he did before the operation? Did he lose any speed? You have no idea if he would even start if he stayed. And he won’t go to Clemson. My guess is he will go G5 st best because of his injury history.

Uh huh. And he might end up in the NFL.

To the boys and girls talking trash about our current student athletes who are in the portal FOH.

These guys bled, sweat and grinded for the program. Treat them with the respect they deserve or reread my first sentence.

“Projecting” and “prognosticating” about kids being broken and unable to come back from injury is obnoxious and trash. These guys are real human beings and kids with their whole lives ahead.

I can’t believe this mentality of dogging our guys “we don’t need em” or “they won’t be able to play like they used to” or whatever is the kind of sour grapes children have.

Wish them the best of luck and move on.

Dang dude. Y’all got me hot about this.

Agree [emoji817]

I don’t get the kind of trash talk that goes on along our fan base sometimes. Man the internet is an indexable, publicly addressable forever kinda place. This kinda crap gets stored and searched and lives forever. Why would we put this kind of garbage out there about kids who are playing for this program.

It stinks.

It's two completely different offenses but many people wondered the exact same thing you're wondering now when we lost Dedrick Mills, and then KB stepped in and stepped up. We have a very good chance of that happening again this time around and being just find without him.
Hope you are right. We do have good players coming back at RB and good ones coming in next year. Maybe they'll be enough. I'd feel a lot better with Benson back, however.

I ain't seeing anyone being unkind to KB in this thread, personally. Shoot, I am much more fired up at people trashing Mills over personal stuff and academic struggles.

Yeah the behavior pattern sucks when it happens to any of our athletes. I know this is a message board, and that the point is to get on and talk sports. I also know guys generally (and ladies sometimes too) trash each other in a collegial manner and take / give grief as a sign of respect.

Problem is that context and intonation can be hard to pick up from text. It’s possible I was over reacting to a few of the posts I’d read earlier on in the thread. If so, my bad.

I think most, if not all of us, understand the kids are playing for a reason: free school, shot at the pros, love of the game or any combination of the three. Sometimes staying at GT isn’t the right move for them. That’s ok. As long as they did their best while here and left on good terms, then we should wish them well and move on.

I used to tell people I managed that if they found a new role somewhere else was a better option for them than what we could offer they should take it. There is nothing disloyal about moving on for something better as long as you do it in a respectful manner.

Ok end of rant. I have had a lot of these lately. This offseason has been a lot of things. I’m excited for the future though and hope CGC and the staff and team continue to build the momentum and deliver us into a brighter tomorrow.

Go Jackets!

with the Sims transfer being official, what is our number now?

Edit: I think it's 86 now. Young was 85.

Think we are 86 now? So another will need to leave. My guess is its another from the DB/RB groups, probably a converted A back. Seems like we are absolutely stacked in the secondary atm.

So one of those guys got an injury requiring a medical? Is going over 85 hazardous to the health of our SAs?

I would like to see our staff get a little more creative. Maybe find a track scholarship for a player willing and able to make and compete on the track team or something while remaining with the football team. Dunno if possible but....

Their are ways to keep a SA in school for a year without an athletic scholarship. So, if it's a senior with little chance to play, the GTAA can keep the kid in school.

You can’t do that, I don’t know the actual language of the rule, but it something like the sport that is played first has be the sport that you get a scholarship. Think it was written for fb. Now you can run track but your scholarship must come fb or not at all.

You might be correct, but the rule used to require all the scholarship athletes on the football team to have a football scholarship. No track scholarship guys on the football team. Football players can run track with a football scholarship.

That is correct. If you play football and have a scholarship it doesn’t matter what else you play it’s a football scholarship.
